Hi All I have just fitted the oil cooler into the duct on my tri-gear XS. To improve the cooling I have lowered the cooler by two inches as suggested in past posts. The clearance between the steel tube of the nose leg and the bottom of the radiator is now 3-1/4 inches and I'm wondering if this is enough. If anyone has any experience in this area I would appreciate any advice Regards David Steade

Graeme I am not a radio expert but from what I have been told the ferrite rings are needed for impedance matching (ie they are the balum). Ian Rickard G-IANI XS Trigear, 300hours Europa Club Mods Specialist e-mail g-iani@ntlworld.com

Hi David Just measured mine and its 3 1/2 to the nose leg with a 2 inch drop for the oil cooler, I have the springs fitted instead of the bungi cord, but you also have the steel safety cable to prevent contact in a heavy landing event, regards Ivor G-IVER On 7 March 2011 12:03, Steade <steade@btinternet.com> wrote: > Hi All > > I have just fitted the oil cooler into the duct on my tri-gear XS. You should be fine. Before the final fit of the cowl, check the clearance for that too. Hi All A bit more guidance please . Now I'm fitting the exhaust to my Tri-gear. Its the latest oval design. The heat shield on mine is very close to the nut on the sump banjo fitting. Is this normal? What sort of clearance are other builders getting in this area? Regards David Steade

Hi All, I'm getting ready for Sun N Fun. One of the things I wondered about is what do folks take along to get the black Florida dust off the plane so it can look its best. One needs to avoid scratching the windscreen and the paint. Is it just a matter of getting water to it in a jug or is there a preferred commercial cleaner that can be sprayed? ACS has so many options it is mind boggling. Any wisdom from those who've done it? I know this won't be my only question about the trip. Troy

David, Mine was the same way. Don't worry about that as much as dropping the tunnel under it for more than called for clearance. It's the key to proper tri-gear cooling. Jeff R.
