2 DAYS TO GO!!!
Bud has the aircraft on stand (N95 and N100) and the British contingent are
on hand. 'Baby Blue flies' in today so (some of) the gang will be together
again.
Last minute preparations are being made today and Engineering meetings are
being planned
We look forward to seeing all friends new and old over the week ahead so
come along and see us. Don't forget 11.00 each day at the stand to see who
is around.
Regards

Subject: | Re: Dynon altitude hold |
Bonjour Michel,
I have both the pitch and roll SV32 dynon servos in my Europa XS mono connected
to a D10A. I don't have the AP74 and typically use the CWS switch on the stick
to enable and disable both servos. It is possible to use the menus on the Dynon,
but the CWS stich is very easy.
The whole system is really excellent for an extremly low price when you already
have a Dynon EFIS (what was my case).
The feature that could be very useful is a pitch autotrim. As soon as you change
power settings or you turn steeply, the Dynon EFIS indicates that you need to
retrim. Well, this is also typically the case without autopilot, so nothing
new :-)
When you are strongly out of trim, the pitch servo is often slipping, so potentially
an SV42 servo for the pitch would be preferable. But as you have indication
that you need to retrim, this is really not an issue from my perspective and
so decided to stay with the SV32.
Also, with the 5.4 EFIS Software version, I saw that the system is slightly hunting
at the new altitude when you request a change of altitude and let the system
change the altitude for you. As I need to do that via the menu, I almost never
do that and prefer to use the CWS switch.
My preferred use model is the following: I am at 1000 feet with the autopilot enabled
and I want to go to 2000. I press the CWS switch, climb to my new altitude
and depress the CWS. Then no issue at all, the system strongly maintains 2000
feet.
Potentially, with an AP74 or HS34 and the ability to use a button to dial a new
altitude, I would use another way to change of altitude and then encounter this
hunting issue. But, I also have to admit that I also didn't spend much time
to tune up the settings for pitch and I am pretty sure that these are not well
tuned.
By the way, if you need, I have a MOD76 kit (altitude hold) from Europa. I didn't
use it when the autopilot was installed as it took too much time between order
and delivery. Feel free to come back to me if you are interested.
Kind regards, Jacques.
