I have not seen any discussion of Oshkosh. Is anyone else going? Lynne and I will
be there for most of the week. If any of the Europa Group attends, my cell
number is 941-875-5684. Give me a buzz and maybe we can get a beer.

Jim,
I plan be there from Sunday (late) through Saturday. I'm driving as I ended up
with a useless bureaucrat in the FAA handling my paperwork. I have a Europa
ready to fly but no Airworthiness Certificate & Limitations Letter and this guy
says it will be weeks before he can get the paperwork submitted. Normally only
takes about 15 - 20 minutes to fill out the form on the computer and send
it off to OKC and they usually turn it around in about an hour. Not Stan. He
has a stack of 26 applications on his desk that he can't seem to get around to
doing and I'm at the bottom of the stack.
It's really my fault though. When I put the aircraft up for repair and modification
last year I set the docs aside in a "safe" place and now I can't find them.
AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!
My cell number is in the signature block. I hope to see a bunch of Europaphiles
there some time.

Jim,
Go with a DAR! There are FAA guys who are great but it's pretty slim odds you'll
get one. The rest are worthless bureaucrats and oxygen thieves.
I should have gone back to my DAR to get my replacment paperwork. He'd only charge
$100 to do replacement paperwork. His charge for the inspection was $450
and worth it. The FAA is free but who knows when you'll have the inspection
and paperwork.
Good luck with your cooling issues. It takes work but can eventually be resolved.
I recently read an article on line about what it took to get cooling working
for a Jab. They made up a fiberglass shroud. I found it, not on line, in
the August Kitplanes, "Down to Earth" column by Amy Laboda: "The plenum: anything
but one size fits all." Cooling a Kit Fox IV with a Jab and an RV-10. Check
it out.

Guys,
I plan fly in each day, weather permitting. My cell is 262 993 4483.
In past years we have met at the Home Builders HQ. Does anyone recall
what time?
BTW. I had the local FAA inspector do my aircraft. I had a good
experience, he was prompt and helpful. Just call me lucky I guess.

Paul,
We usually met around 1100 hrs at HB HQ to go to lunch.
The FAA guy who did my Repairman's Certificate at the Ft.Worth FSDO was great.
He was a homebuilder. Tommy had a good guy recently to do a replacement Airworthiness
& Letter at the Dallas FSDO. Took 6 hours because the guy was a one-handed,
one-finger typist, but he had it the same day. My recent experience
with two FAA reps, one at the Dallas FSDO and one at the Ft.Worth FSDO was very
bad. It's a crap shoot with the FAA.
