Graeme, I endorse all the more sophisticated responses you have received, but when I was assembling my wings I was concerned that the pins seemed to have become unnecessarily stiff, however simply greasing the pins made a quite surprising difference... Some a/c have a large double hook, or cleat, mounted to the ceiling panel, behind the seats - used to hang the headsets on when not in use. What are these called and where (in the UK) have they been bought ? John Cliff #0259

A question for the assembled wisdom...do the PTT wires need to be shielded? As I understand it the standard is a 3 core shielded wire for each headset . Audio: white cores and shield/earth . Mic: 2 cores (red and blue)and earth/shield . Until you energize the mic by earthing it, it is "off". In order to activate the mic you "energize" by earthing it through the operation of the PTT which connects the mic to the earth/shield. I am probably expressing this badly but do I have it more or less right? Will

no the PTT doesnt earth the mic, its just a pull to ground 'logic type' input that changes the transceiver from receive mode to transmit. you can normally use twin screened for mic and tel using the screen as common ground although only the mic really needs screening. -------- Graeme Bird G-UMPY Mono Classic/XS FWFD 912ULS/Warp drive FP Build nearing completion Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=352075#352075

I am busy trying to get everything smoothly moving, what kind of lube am I supposed to use on the middle of the wheels that guide the rudder cables and for the port/starboard joint at the bottom of the control column? -------- Graeme Bird G-UMPY Mono Classic/XS FWFD 912ULS/Warp drive FP Build nearing completion Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=352078#352078

For the PTT you can use single core shielded wire using the shielding as the earth connection at both ends For the headsets use 3 core shielded as you say, mic, audio and earth but make sure you earth the shielding as well on the radio end only, just cut it off at the headset end and leave it, if you earth the shielding at both ends it creates its own circuit and you will have interference Gavin...#355...
