Im currently looking at Transceivers, My original was to go with the Garmin SL40 but with the new frequency spacing 833 being introduced at some point, (garmin not currently supported) Im now looking at alternative. My second choice is now the Funkwerk ATR833 which is interchangeable between the different frequncey spacing. Any info on quality of this Transceiver and general overall reviews would be welcome Thank you in advance. Gidday, I have had my door strut hydraulic struts on and off so many times, and co-incidentally arm really glad the end caps, the ball joint cups are plastic. So, when the time comes I reckon it might be worthwhile replacing them, or having spares. I have seen photos on EuropaOwners of Dan Bish's album of a metal cup with a locking cir-clip pin rather than the plastic ones. He is unsure where he got them from, maybe Europa, and so I am wondering if anyone knows where these can be sourced please?? Reg Tony Renshaw Sydney Australia

Tony, Very nice setup with the locking cir clip. I have had my struts dislodge twice in 5 years, merely due to the bolt attachment coming loose. Otherwise the ones that are issued are quite OK and lighter in construction. Remember the the cir clip will not release the strut from the ball when needed under stress and therefore may do damage to your composite metal tongue the ball is bolted to. Just a thought. I had the same problem and replaced them by metal ones which I bought from the Europa company. These end caps are slightly longer so it is likely you have to adapt something, but it is worth the trouble. I never had an end cap sprang loose after that. Frans

Hi Richard, I have the ATR 833 installed in my Europa G-c.e.r.i. I have had no trouble with it. I do like the duel listening. Also very easy to set up frequencies. When I bought mine the company was called Filtser. A few years old, but still working very well. Cheers Danny Shepherd. Hello, When posting messages to this forum I always get an error message: "User mailbox exceeds allowed message count: themorgans@fairadsl.co.uk" It looks like this mailbox is always full (at least for over a year now). I find it rather annoying to receive an error message for every single post. Can someone tell these Morgans to empty their mailbox or to either remove them from this list (they are obviously unable to read this forum anyway). Or alternatively, stop emitting error messages to individual posters as they have no control over someone else's mailbox and don't need to know someone else's mailbox status anyway. Thanks, Frans

Barry, Just returned from Germany & Czech to find this correspondence. I am sorry that the UK is almost as difficult as Belgium about home builts, but at least they don't charge 80 euros for permission!! Since last year the situation is that you are required to send CAA information on the attached document by email (address on the document) and get acknowledgement and then bring Permit, Insurance, & registration documents with you along with a copy of the CAA acknowledgement document. You are only allowed to stay in UK with the plane for a maximum of 28 days on any one visit I will get this info and document onto the Europa Guide to Flying in Europe, which is on the Europa Club website. From: John Greenhalgh <john.greenhalgh1@sky.com>
I have a GRT EFIS which can indicate Percent Power on the display. However, I need to calibrate the system first with engine data. Just wondering if anyone has undertaken this task before and been able to obtain the data required. Rotax has some parameters but not all. My engine is a Rotax 912ULS with variable pitch prop (constant speed). The data I am after is the manifold pressure at a range of revs (2500 to 5500) for both 55% power and 75% power. Using the Rotax site I have been able to find the difference in power (delta hp) for increasing altitude from Rotax but it would be good to compare with other figures. Regards John

Tony, my P1 side plastic ball joint became loose and the metallic ball popped out several times. That happened several times only during I was opening the door. So it was only harmful =93 no damages. I analyzed why it popped out and found sometimes the pump itself rotated such a way that it forced to separate the ball and the ball joint from each others (because the ball joint was also loose). I changed it to the stbd side (not so often in use) and cutted a small piece of just an ordinary plastic bag. Say 1=9D x 1=9D. I wrapped it about 5 times and put it between the ball joint and ball. That made the ball joint tight again. Problem solved. So far. I will absolutely go on to the metallic ball joints when it is time to do that. Hi Steve, Europa certainly did supply the metal ends in days of old. I got mine from them and they have never given any trouble since (12 yrs). I only wish the company would stop supplying duff bits when they must surely be aware of so many complaints. Those useless NACA side vents are another expensive and useless item that I believe still come with the new kits. Reg Tony Renshaw Sydney Australia _____ No virus found in this message. Bob and Pete They work fine if adjust them just with a bit tender! It is very easy if same time have a bit imagination that (The Knob) is a sweet clitoris. Do not broke it! Maybe that (ability to use those Naca vents with Russian vertical spiral) is deep inside in a Finnish nature: we have lived thousands of years just west from Russia and our borderline is about 1000 miles long. Raimo OH-XRT Finland PS: if honest during the building phase I hated them. But there were so many things I would have liked to do otherway or change. But I had not competence to do so. And did not want to use even more money. Hey I had a complete aircraft kit they said! So I decided to go on with those vents. And using them gently they have worked just fine. If I remember correct these are new ones ' I also did broke them when trying them first time...and that is why I strenghtened them some how ' maybe by using large area washers or so. RT do archive! From: "europapa" <jubu@onlinehome.de>
Hi, I am about to make a new instrument panel and will replace all my vacuum driven avionics with an Dynon D-100. I would like to use a laser cut service but the laser will only move with the right software. I am absolutely unexperienced in this matter. Has somebody got a file of the shape of the main panel? Or can somebody help me with the whole project? Where can I find the plate to close the whole where the vacuum pump has been mounted? Subject: Battery Location with a 914
Gidday, I have set up a rear battery location for my battery on the assumption that I will have a CoG problem. I have a 914 with an Airmaster prop, and a normal panel. Suffice to say, can I presume that I might need weight in the tail and therefore having the battery back there is a good option, or can I confidently place it under the baggage bay shelf ? I am about to buy cabling for the battery which is why I am asking at this point. If I do keep the aft location I am trying to work out a lightweight containment that will accept a decent deceleration. The back of my head looks better without a battery in the back of it. I have thought of using rudder cable looped aft under the tailwheel leg attachment point, and then forward onto the battery box. This Odyssey battery at least comes in a metal battery case. Any input much appreciated. Thanks Reg Tony Renshaw Sydney Australia

Hello Juergen, The lasers will work with more than one piece of software. The one I would recommend the most would be Corel Draw. The next would be Autocad. I have used both, with the laser that I have access to. If you work on a file with either of these, they should work fine. Need more help? I can work with you off-list. I will eventually make a file to create the main panel, that will use a laser to cut it...but have not done it yet. Maybe someone else has? If so, I would like to get the file as well :) Greg -----Original Message----- From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of europapa Sent: Thursday, October 06, 2011 1:54 PM Subject: Europa-List: CAD file of instrument panel Hi, I am about to make a new instrument panel and will replace all my vacuum driven avionics with an Dynon D-100. Tony, That far aft (picture) shouldn't be necessary. Under the baggage bay or just to the rear of the baggage bay (and accessible through the "D" door) should work out just fine.
