Hi Trev
To be fair The Dynon works very well and is normally quiet, But once the
throttle's are closed then all EGT/CHT's
drop and trigger a alarm, this winter i will reset the parameters to reduce
them,
On the upside once i forgot to switch the Turbo waist gate on (Pilot error)
and had a high manifold pressure warning on take off that could have caused
damaged to the 914 but was easily rectified by pulling off the power, and
also i had a low fuel pressure warning when i did my initial testing due to
a fuel filter blockage again easily sorted by changing to reserve, I am not
saying i wouldn't have noticed it at some point but the Dynon gives you some
vital seconds to use if needed,
So all in all more warnings in my book are better than blindly assuming
every thing is OK, Additionally i like to keep my eyes out of the cockpit as
much as possible and aural warnings are a good way to achieve this IMHO
Best wishes
Ivor

Thanks for bringing that up Frans.
It appears that MGL have launched a new radio called the V6 which
does support 8.33 and communicates with the Efis, I'd only seen the V10,
good old forum,
Steve.

I thought for homebuilts this is not necessary? At least not in the
Netherlands. We only need an EASA approved ASI, altimeter and compass.
The rest is optional and up to the builder. I could build the
transceiver myself if I wished to. Homebuild doesn't limit itself to
flying controls and such.

Hi Frans
In the UK the radio has to have a licence from the CAA and they will only
accept approved devices.
I doubt if eurocontrol or any air traffic organisation would like just any
ones lash up of a transceiver to be used for air traffic control for fear of
all sorts of technical issues like break through onto adjacent channels.
I doubt if things are much different in other European country's.

Paul at Parts for Aircraft told me that the MGL will talk to the ATR 833 -
which is the basis on which I bought one!

I too have been researching the comms. for some time.
The Garmin SL40 doesn't support 8.33 but does talk to the MGL Efis that i'm
fitting. (change frequency from the Efis screen) The XCom 760 doesnt
support 8.33 but does talk to the MGL Efis.
The ATR 833 does support 8.33 but doesn't appear to talk to the MGL,
It's all a bit of a mish mash,
If any one knows of a comms. that does both and is preferably 2 1/4" panel
cut out then please let me know,
Steve.

Richard, well thats great.
I've taken another look at the manual and can't find any mention of external
frequency change , do you have the pin numbers that you connect to
on the D-Connector?

I presume we're talking about the lazy-L shaped steel items- If Kevins aren't available
in time, I have a pair here in Buckinghamshire for anyone who needs them...
