It appears that MGL have launched a new radio called the V6 which does support 8.33 and communicates with the Efis, I'd only seen the V10, good old forum, Steve. I thought for homebuilts this is not necessary? At least not in the Netherlands. We only need an EASA approved ASI, altimeter and compass. The rest is optional and up to the builder. I could build the transceiver myself if I wished to. Homebuild doesn't limit itself to flying controls and such. Frans ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 02:30:50 AM PST US Subject: Re: Europa-List: Re: Transceivers From: houlihan Hi Frans In the UK the radio has to have a licence from the CAA and they will only accept approved devices. I doubt if eurocontrol or any air traffic organisation would like just any ones lash up of a transceiver to be used for air traffic control for fear of all sorts of technical issues like break through onto adjacent channels. I doubt if things are much different in other European country's. The Garmin SL40 doesn't support 8.33 but does talk to the MGL Efis that i'm fitting. (change frequency from the Efis screen) The XCom 760 doesnt support 8.33 but does talk to the MGL Efis. The ATR 833 does support 8.33 but doesn't appear to talk to the MGL, It's all a bit of a mish mash, If any one knows of a comms. that does both and is preferably 2 1/4" panel cut out then please let me know, Steve.
