Has any one tried using Mylar gap seal on the wing gaps i.e. Flaps, aileron, elevator
and perhaps rudder (Z seal on one side in this area)
If you have, did you get any improvement in speed as a result?
The glider chaps have been using this stuff for years so there could be some advantage
in fitting it to a Europa.

I just read Manuel Queiroz's Chasing the Morning Sun book about flying round the
world in a RV6 (good read by the way) and he used them. Two came off over the
Pacific in the dark making a very strange and worrying noise.

Thanks, I found the web site and also AFE on line seem to do them but no one has
a price, has anyone fitted them? I think I would just tape round the hole and
route them with a 1/4 bit although that may make too much heat - maybe a hand
hole saw.

Hi Graham,
I have fitted glider type sliding windows to my a/c. The ones I fitted were
made by a Swiss company called Mecaplex. When I got them 7 or 8 years ago
they cost something like 150 each. If these are the ones you are going to
fit then I have an accurate template to go with a router fitted with a NEW
1/4" router bit. If you wish I can lend this to you but you will have to
wait till I get back from the States at the end of the month.
The cutting rate is quite fast and I had NO problem with heat. Ensure the
canopy temperature is in the region of 60 to 70f. ie not too cold, before
cutting. Practice on at least one off cut before attacking the real thing.

Hi All,
Recently I had been getting low voltage readings in my Europa.
It has the 912S with a total of 125 hours on it.
I have an Odessey 680, 17ah battery, 2 years old.
It is basically wired as per the Europa supplied diagram.
I keep a Battery Tender Plus hooked up all the time.
I do not get a alternator light come on, except when I shut down.
The voltage reading on climb out yesterday on departure from home read 13.7 at
one point.
After a 1.5 hour flight to Kentucky the voltage was probably around 12v.
On start up to taxi from the fuel pit to the restaurant it hit on the first blade
and started quickly 1.5 hours later when we left for home.
Voltage slowly dropped on the way home when finally the EIS showed 10.9 volts on
landing. I forgot to try to restart at that time.
I had turned off none essential stuff along the way. Pulled the breakers for the
Art.Horizon, Turn Coord., turned off XPDR, then finally the radio except when
we got close to home and the nearby class c.
I am thinking its only the battery What do you all think?

search engine). None conclusive. I am wondering if it could be the regulator.

Hi Troy
its a fair bet its your regulator, The ducatti regulator has a poor record
of reliability
especially if it isn't sufficiently heatsink/cooled, I replaced mine with
the German
schicke GR6 a much better quality unit, Its very unlikely to be the
battery,
check both yellow wires from the generator to make sure they are not burnt
or overheated at the regulator connections,

Troy,
There are are many things but I had the same problem flying back from FL. last
week. What I found was a bad ground or corroded ground going back thru the firewall.
Fixed it today and she's charging again. It was as you described... no
alternator light just a slow drop in voltage. Check your grounds everywhere. BTW:
I have an extra regulator if you want to try it.
