Do we know this for a fact? I looked on tufnol.com and found the following: "One potentially useful feature of TUFNOL materials is their ability to be lubricated with water, or with a water-based process fluid. In many applications, this can allow the design to be simplified by eliminating the need for a sealed bearing with oil or grease inside. Although TUFNOL laminates are used dry in a great many less demanding wear applications, TUFNOL bearing materials are not generally self-lubricating and it usually is preferable to use a lubricant to develop their full bearing potential. CBM grades are designed to give good performance with minimal lubrication. However, properly designed and lubricated, TUFNOL bearings give excellent service for many years and are frequently a cost-effective choice." Andrew, If it is any help, I have applied a little light oil to my Tufnel bearings each year for the last 10 and they are as friction free as ever. Subject: Matronics Web Services Restored!
Dear Listers, I'm extremely happy to report that as of about 9pm PST 12/7, all of the Matronics web services have been fully restored including the Web Forums, List Browse, Archive Search, Wiki, and AeroElectric web sites. It was quite an ordeal getting the replacement boards for the server, but things went back together tonight and are up and running nicely. The first company I ordered the boards from originally called me a day later to say that, whoops, they really didn't have them in stock after all... Fortunately, I was able to locate some through a different source and had then over-nighted and they arrived today. Thank you for your patience and consideration though the whole thing! The List Contribution web site is also back on line for those wishing to make a donation to the effort: http://www.matronics.com/contribution Best regards, Matt Dralle Matronics List Administrator
