Bob - no, he didn't - Bryan has become yet another victim of the poor security
at hotmail. I've had this message (or something very similar) recently from most
of the people I know with hotmail accounts. For years hotmail has had a poor
reputation and I don't know why anyone bothers to use it when better-performing
and more secure system like google mail are available free.

Subject: | Rotax 912 exhaust springs going walkabout |
During 'shake down' flights we twice lost an exhaust spring, both front, left then
right, whether snapped or shaken loose, who knows. New engine, new springs,
new exhaust - why should this be? Applied with a string not pliers, Anyone else
had this? now wire locking but need more hours to see what happens.
Maybe its the stiffness of the new engine creating lots of movement on startup?

Graeme,
I was told to put some high-temp RTV Silicone gasket maker by Permeatex on the
springs between the wires to absorb the shaking. Haven't had a problem with them.
Don't know if it was due to the above application however they are still attached.
I also lock wire the to the muffler to avoid the departure.
Cheers,
Tim
