Hi All, I am thinking about having a flange welded on to the exhaust silencer HEATSHIELD to accept a cabin heat assy. with hose out let to the stb. & port foot wells, has anyone tried this and if so is there enough " draft " from the silencer / heat shield gap to provide enough heat ? Steve. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=364359#364359

Hi Steve, We have a classic Europa with pre XS engine installation and have for many years used air heated by only a small section of the exhaust surface area. The air flows into the cabin via 2" diameter scat hose and a butterfly valve (old Land Rover Carburettor throttle valve). The flow is quite small, in fact very small but the cabin is so well sealed that we happily maintain 20 c when the OAT is minus 5. Come visit the TMGA web site. There is a Europa forum page where I built a map of all the Europas from the US FAA database. I also invite anyone to come join this years Annual TMG fly-in in Minden, NV, USA July 12-15, where you will meet a lot of like minded folks with Touring Motor gliders. Our new association mailed out over 600 invitations to every US TMG owner and should see a spectacular turnout this year. Pictures and info are on the website above.
