Subject: mystery of missing aileron hinge wire
    From: "graeme bird" <graeme@gdbmk.co.uk>
Bit of a shock Friday on preflight check noticed no wire in the port outer aileron hinge. Just flopping about ! Completely baffled, had only flown 25 min on previous flight a few days before , and only 20hours total. cant see that it could possibly have worked itself out couldnt see it on the ground (though grass) Plane had been outside for a few days while waiting for my hangar to vacate but cant think that wind could have inched it out An insane person might have removed it, Very tight to get another one in. More overhang and bends on new one, although its hard to bend - maybe need a better tool. Curious and a bit scary. Interestingly while doing a search on the forums I found the exact same thing had happened to someone else. Going to be checking hinges closely for a good while. -------- Graeme Bird G-UMPY Mono Classic/XS FWFD 912ULS/Warp drive FP Just competed conversion to type g(at)gdbmk.co.uk Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=370270#370270

Troy, I don't know what system you are using, but I used Safari on my Mac and it worked fine. I also have FireFox and Chrome installed on my Mac for those occasional pages that do not support Safari. Both are fine browsers. Hello Graham, Although this is a bit of messing about, I drill and tie wire my hinge pins. I made a jig that has a hole in it the exact size of a hinge pin and at right angles to the hole I have small .080' (I think?) hole which I use as a guide for a fine drill. I had to buy a packet of 10 hardened drill for this purpose. I put the wire in, use a twist tool and secure the other end in a crimp pin that I put under one of the the hinge nuts. The other end of the pin is simply bent at right angles. The makes it very easy to install & remove the pin when I need to, but as I said, quite a bit of messing around to make the jig. Sorry Nev, I used Evans from the beginning, now 480 hours ago. After five years I didn't have to join a single drop. I changed the rubber hoses and applied the ones from Stefan Ingmarsson. No corrosion at all detected in the cooling system. I modified the cowling and had never temperature issues. There are plenty reasons why not to trust google. Most of them have to do with privacy. Google records your search words, may have your email (if you use gmail), may have your agenda (if you use their calendar), has made pictures of the front side your house (and has recorded your wifi data while they where at it just because it was easy to do so), is currently making similar pictures from the rear of your house by airplane, etc. Yes, go ahead and use their browser too so they have even more insight in your interests and what you are doing. (Why do you think they made that browser. Charity because they thought you couldn't live with the existing browsers?) George Orwell couldn't have imagined what is going on right now. Not everyone is aware that google's search engine is adapting search results to your personal profile they have established from your data. Just do this experiment: call a friend, and both google on the same search words and see what is being presented to you. Also compare the internet advertisement you see on random internet pages, and see how this gets adapted after entering search words on the google search engine. You have nothing to hide you may think? Think again. Even if google is not misusing the data they collect from you, this data might fall into wrong hands. Anyone who can steal this data can see that Mr. Singleton is interested in airplanes (and thus might have some money), can see on the calendar when he is having an appointment and thus not at home, and can see on google's street view pictures what the options are to break into his house. All services integrated in one profile! Even worse scenario's are thinkable, including fabricating evidence of some crime to some innocent person whose profile and agenda make him an acceptable suspect. As a former data security expert, I'm quite concerned about google and their appetite for collecting data and building personal profiles. I have abandoned all google services, and even instructed our family's firewall to deny all access to google. (Surprising to see how many applications have stealth access to google). You have been warned! Frans

    Subject: Rotax 914 fuel pressure
    From: "Roland" <schmidtroland@web.de>
Fellow Rotax 914 Jockeys, forgive me this odd question please. I have my Europa stored in the trailer and was doing some avionic checks when I noticed the fuel pressure was almost nothing indicated on the conventional Rotax gauge with one pump running and only about 0,15 bar (not steady) with the boost pump switched on. The lower red line on the gauge is 0,25 bar. I can clearly hear both pumps running. I don't know the aircraft that well since I bought it last year and thus cannot recall if that value changed. I also haven't tried yet with the engine running but my last flight was completely uneventful. I regard that as a vital question and would appreciate your opinion on this item. Do I have to worry? Happy (rest) Easter. Roland PH-ZTI XS Trigear Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=370305#370305

Yes I believe i had the same issue you are describing, when you are at full travel on both the servo and the elevator, the servo is being pushed up by the crank. If that is your issue, mine was resloved by shortening the link rod just enough to prevent the issue. I had to trim a couple of mm from each end of the pieces that screw onto the threaded rod and shorten the rod by the same amount. It seemed to do the trick and it didnt take much to fix it regards craig
