From: "stephen vestuti" Hi, I intend to exit the filler neck vent under the fuselage, does it need to face forward to airflow ( using 90 Deg. bend ), straight down or turned aft ? Or does it make no difference ? Steve. From: PHILLIPS I Steve Probably overkill but i ran two breathers from the cobra both from the top, the main one is in 3/8 metal from a large non return valve down the fuselage side and exits just in front of the flap behind the wing, the second vent is run in 1/4 aluminium down to the rear baggage bay and across the middle and through the floor to exit facing slightly rearwards, Nether pipe appear to vent fuel in flight only on the ground if overfilled, regards Ivor Phillips G-IVER On 22 April 2012 18:19, stephen vestuti wrote: > > Hi, > > I intend to exit the filler neck vent under the fuselage, does it need to > face forward to airflow ( using 90 Deg. bend ), straight down or > turned aft ? From: david park I put mine under fuselage in a position out board of the flap hinge cover to protect from spray from mono! Regards dave park. Steve & All, I too have vented from the underside of the fuselage; I've used the malleable SS tubing provided in the kit and, following the manual in terms of the orientation, have bent it so the open end of the tubing faces forward; I have also drilled the 2, 1/8" dia. holes at the rear- facing side of the vent tubing called for in the manual. I am still in the build process and cannot attest that this functions as intended. I attach a photo. Comments appreciated, especially if something seems amiss, Fred > > > > Hi, > > I intend to exit the filler neck vent under the fuselage, does it > need to > face forward to airflow ( using 90 Deg. bend ), straight down or > turned aft ? Steve, As Fred said, point it forward. I too drill holes in the aft end in case of a bug hit, dirt from muddy ground etc. I set mine glassed to the aft bulkhead on the trigear or on one of the outboard floor supports in the mono on the starboard side. It is not wise to place the vent on the centerline for contaminates from the nose or main wheel and be clear of the exhaust. 1/4 inch tube will work OK. The object is that the vent will positively vent and the holes in the rear keep it from clogging or building too much pressure. I've always assumed that the differences in these tires would be variations in width...but does anyone know if the diameter of these tires (or tyres) varies as well? (Checking back in Chap. 29m of the build manual, I had forgotten that it mentions the 600 x 6 tire, as I can only recall posts which discussed the relative merits of the 700 & 800.)
