Thanks Jim;
I received the Airworthiness Certificate on Friday and have a couple of thing to
fix and needed parts. Being Friday and the holiday yesterday I should have
the parts today. Hopefully, I'll have them installed tomorrow and fly on Thursday.
You are right about the Jabiru heating. On the ground the temps get to 302 pretty
fast. I have the Whirlwind ground adjustable prop installed. Four inch circles
for intakes and a lip on the lower cowling like John Lawton's plane. I
didn't use the Rotex designed stainless Steel firewall. Mine is fully open so
I'll hopeful of not having to many problems with heat once airborne. I'll cross
my fingers on that one. I have been told that the temps will go down after
15 hours.
If I can't fly on Thursday I'll have to wait until I return from Tejas over the
weekend.

I did and static full power run and got 2940 rpm. this was with the tail tied
down and the nose wheel off the ground to find where the unusable fuel level was.
Is this about right?

Hi Fred,
Thats 18.1 Ft/Lbs
No problem. Do not lubricate the threads as this can falsify the stress put on
the bolt.
Best regards

MessageAll,
there has been talkings about the case =9Cis it possible to
operate with only one fuel transducer when there is a fuel return
line=9D.
It is. Look at the attachment =93 this set up does it well!

The LAA was averse to the idea of discharging the fuel return to the
bottom of the tank on the basis that, if fuel lines firewall-forward
were ruptured in an accident or engine fire, then there would be the
possibility of fuel siphoning from the tank via the fuel return line,
This makes sense, although mitigation of that possibility could be to
place the vent line restrictor behind the firewall. Or arrange for the
addition of a non-return valve at the same location.

Subject: Europa-List: Fuel Return Line
All,
We have a fuel selector valve in fuel line. We try to remember to
close it before a possible emergency landing. Some pilots close it
always when not flying and some people close it only during a long
storage time.
There is also a fuel return line. That is connected to the tank bottom
(starboard side /reserve side) if built as per a BM (issue 6, page 6-3).
I have two guestions:
1) would it be wise to have a 2nd fuel valve in a fuel return line
also to get an ability to close it or one-way-valve in the case of
emergency?
2) why this line is connected to the fuel outlet which locates in the
bottom of the tank? Why not to the upper corner of the (reserve side)
tank?
BTW: During this winter I changed all the rubber parts under the
cowling (oh boy there are really many of them!). I noticed the fuel
restrictor (FS02) was totally blocked. It was quite hard to open it. I
assume it has maybe been blocked since almost new because I had during
those days (2007) an issue with a fuel contamination and suffered a
scary engine stoppage because of a totally blocked filter during a
flight # 7. It was good to have a 2nd filter and way to use it by
selecting =9CRES=9D.
So, I have noticed no problems to use my engine with return line which
is off-line. There are also many Rotax aplications with no plans for
return lines in use. What is a main reason we should have a fuel return
line? To get more fresh cool fuel or what?
Cheers, Raimo

Hi Paul,
I managed to sit on the pilot=B4s seat, so far.
And saw more than expected.
Cheers, Raimo
PS: we have a little Europa Fly-in (Europa Aircraft Nordic) here in
Finland next weekend. Are you going to participate? At least one
American Europa Operator will do!!!
Everybody who flies Europa is welcome. Just contact me! Location EFJM,

Hi Raimo,
I took a look at your photograph and it looks very nice. I do have one
question though, where do you sit? :)
Cheers, Paul

Hi Richard,
how about this?
The camera was aproximately there where is my my head when flying.
The Master ASI is well visible but a skid/ball and panel=B4s lower
port corner not (there are some fuses, switches and a key),
In the other hand IPad=B4s mount is easily adjustable so I can turn it
90 degrees if I wanna see whole panel (but then IPad is not visible).
Notice: this configuration with also a new TruTrak=B4s Gemini ADI with
TCW`s IBBS and Garmin=B4s 35HVS and FDS=B4s FC-10 fuel comp with GPS and
only ONE fuel transducer has not been in the air yet but tomorrow it
will. Wish me luck.

Subject: | Europa flaps design |
Dear Ivan,
Being the builder of the PH-DIY (XS Tri-gear) I have always wondered
about the design of the outer flap hinges.
It is my impression that the "double" hinge construction of the outer
flap hinges is a left over of the mono wheel design where these flap
hinges have to support the out riggers. For the tri gear it looks like
this construction has been left "as is" (but without the outriggers of
course) to avoid recertification issues.
If my impression, that the load on the outer flap hinge is not different
than the load on the inner of middle flap hinge, is incorrect, I would
love to hear more about this. Reason is that I want to understand the
design of my beloved Europa aircraft.
Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge about this.
Ilona and Frans,
PH-DIY
