Will,
Peter Kember who is in our hangar (but not on this list) has a GRT HS 8.4"
EFIS and a GRT 4000 EIS in his XS/NG Trigear Kit 1000.
He had quite a few issues setting it all up, which went on for quite some
time, but now that it is up and running it is pretty impressive and does a
very good job.
I have a GRT EIS which is their original product equivalent to their current
2000 series. I have done 1900 hours with this setup and it provides some
very good engine information in a small compact box, with a big red light
for when things are going out of limits.
I also have a Dynon D10A, bought when they first brought that out but
ultimately I will upgrade to the Dynon Skview which will include the engine
monitoring.

Hi Tim,
Hope you are well.
Repairing a damaged wing is relatively easy ' getting the correct profile
is
however not as straightforward as it looks.
If Europa still manufactured the foam cores then it would be possible to
replace the damaged section but without it a profile to work with it=92s
guesswork.
You won=92t know whether the profile is correct till you fly the aircraft '
that=92s my feeling anyway.
I guess that if one wanted to use the wings with another new fuselage there
could be a cash and time saving.
I would be concerned that there is unseen damage and I=92d be surprised if
the PFA would allow this aircraft to be flown again ' I suspect somebody
has
already asked them the question !
IMHO

Hi Carl.
I agree with all you say except why do you pick out a Classic wing as being
very difficult to repair.
In my very humble opinion damage to a foam core structure like the classic
wing should be easier to part replace or repair than say a monocoque
structure like the XS wing.
As I say this comment is only based on my experience building a classic
aircraft so I am not an expert in this area.

The =93aircraft=94 looks like a complete disaster area and the idea that the
fuselage can safely be pieced together is pure fantasy. I can=92t see any
inspector in his right mind signing this off unless the whole area was paint
stripped and checked for further stress damage. The fuselage is a =93write
off=94 ' you would need to purchase a new fuselage, though it might be
possible to save the cockpit module.
One thing not mentioned to date is one of the wings appears to have
significant leading edge damage ' if it=92s a classic Europa will be very
difficult (though not impossible) to repair. The wing profile on the Europa
is critical (performance wise) so if the repair is not perfect it will fly
like a brick (and probably stall/ spin like a kamikazee !)
The engine is a Subaru which I if I am not mistaken was the reason it the
aircraft crashed in the first place ' the early ones were unreliable !
Is it worth =A36,500 in parts ' questionable.
Unless you are looking for a project that will never fly.

When I read "just needs fibreglass repairs" what I was picturing was an
airframe with a few dings, damaged control surfaces, broken canopy and prop.
But the website photo shows the firewall and the tail cone completely
separated from the fuselage. It looks far more serious than "just needs
fibreglass repairs".

Am I being naive in thinking that the fuselage will need a complete new

I'm looking for a project but this one looks to be listed with an emphasis

big task.

The photos in the ad would seem to indicate that its author is a true
believer in The Greater Fool Theory; i.e., in this case, that no
matter how foolish one may appear when setting a price for
something...a greater fool will eventually buy it...

You've probably all heard these before - but this is such a great
compendium of 1 liners, I couldn't resist. At least it should brighten your
day(s) for a few seconds.
Both optimists and pessimists contribute to society. The optimist invents
the airplane, the pessimist, the parachute.
If helicopters are so safe, how come there are no vintage helicopter
fly-ins?
Death is just nature's way of telling you to watch your airspeed.
Real planes use only a single stick to fly. This is why bulldozers &
helicopters -- in that order -- need two.
There are only three things the copilot should ever say:
1. Nice landing, Sir.
2. I'll buy the first round.
3. I'll take the fat one.
As a pilot only two bad things can happen to you and one of them will.
a. One day you will walk out to the aircraft knowing that it is your
last flight.
b. One day you will walk out to the aircraft not knowing that it is
your last flight.
There are Rules and there are Laws. The Rules are made by men who think
that they know better how to fly your airplane than you. Laws (of Physics)
were ordained by nature. You can, and sometimes should suspend the Rules,
but you can never suspend the Laws.
About Rules:
a. The rules are a good place to hide if you don't have a better idea and
the talent to execute it.
b. If you deviate from a rule, it must be a flawless performance..
(e.g.., If you fly under a bridge, don't hit the bridge.)
The ideal pilot is the perfect blend of discipline and aggressiveness.
The medical profession is the natural enemy of the aviation profession..
Ever notice that the only experts who decree that the age of the pilot is
over are people who have never flown anything? Also, in spite of the
intensity of their feelings that the pilot's day is over, I know of no
expert who has volunteered to be a passenger in a non-piloted aircraft.
Before each flight, make sure that your bladder is empty and your fuel tanks
are full!
He who demands everything that his aircraft can give him is a pilot; he
that demands one iota more is a fool.
There are certain aircraft sounds that can only be heard at night.
The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that
particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are
no limits.
Flying is a great way of life for men who want to feel like boys, but not
for those who still are.
Flying is a hard way to earn an easy living.
"If the Wright brothers were alive today, Wilbur would have to fire Orville
to reduce costs." President, DELTA Airlines.
In the Alaska bush I'd rather have a two hour bladder and three hours of
fuel than vice versa.
It's not that all airplane pilots are good-looking, just that good-looking
people seem more capable of flying airplanes.
An old pilot is one who can remember when flying was dangerous and sex was
safe.
Airlines have really changed! Now a flight attendant can get a pilot
pregnant.
I've flown in both pilot seats. Can someone tell me why the other one is
always occupied by an idiot?
Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming
a pilot. You can't do both.
There are only two types of aircraft -- fighters and targets.
The scientific theory I like best is that the rings of Saturn are composed
entirely of lost airline baggage.
You define a good flight by negatives: you didn't get hijacked, you didn't
crash, you didn't throw up, you weren't late, you weren't nauseated by the
food. So you're grateful.
They invented wheelbarrows to teach FAA inspectors to walk on their hind
legs.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
