Dear Jacques, I replied to your email below in late June but have heard nothing back from you again. I am wondering if that might be because of the problem you said you had with my email address. Could you kindly let me know if you receive this. If you can't get through to me direct, please let me know via the Europa list. I know of no other people having trouble with my email address but if there is a problem, I would certainly like to get it fixed. Best Regards Kingsley Sent from my iPhone On 24/06/2012, at 4:39 AM, "ploucandco" <ploucandco@YAHOO.COM> wrote: > > Hello Kinsgley, I got the aluminuim filler pipe from Tim. I'd enjoy seeing some flying examples, and meet up to chat :-) I've got my be beer cooler outside my trailer again this year for the Europa gang :-P no one stopped by yet! Cheers Pete A239

Hi Pete, I'll be arriving KOSH Tuesday, late morning or early afternoon. Unfortunately, I'm driving in again this year, the aircraft not quite ready to go. Ring me up or drop another e-mail with some directions to your trailer and I'll be happy to stop by to talk airplanes in general and Europa in particular. The last 10 liters where a pain, but also at the beginning I could not squeeze the tank nozzle all the way, always had to be carefull with tanking or the filler tube would overflow. Now I had enough of it. Somebody (I forgot who, but I'm very thankful) mentioned that increasing the size of the breather hose would help. So, I took out the 3mm hose and replaced it by a 16mm tube! And routed it into to the top of the cobra. It is only a short piece of tube, and it runs parallel to the filler hose. I had to bore out the plug that goes into the tank, and I also replaced the breather tube inside the tank with a 16mm tube. The result is great! I test-tanked today at the local gas-station, and I could fill the tank at full speed, al the way up to the top of the filler tube. When the tanking nozzle finally kicked off, the tank (including the filler tube) was indeed full. No spilling, no burbling, the tank is like a black hole until it has completely filled up. I can highly recommend this modification. Easy to do, and very satisfying if you have been plagued by the slow tanking syndrome. Maybe 16mm is a little bit overdone, but this is what I had at hand. And remember, it doesn't run to the outside, but to the top of the cobra. If anything burbles out, it will just fall back into the tank. >From the top of the cobra another hose runs to a breather tube at the bottom of the airplane. This tube is 3mm (or 1/4"). This tube plays no role during tanking, but only when the fuel cap is closed to keep the pressure inside the tank equal to the atmospheric pressure (and to make up for the consumed fuel). Frans

Well your your post was 10:39 AM, Pete. Erich and I made a couple stops at your beer cooler, despite your absence. We are in HBC row 310. A friend of mine that will fly in Sunday said he saw another Europa headed this way, but I don't know who that is. I came to OSH from Bishop,CA via Arlington WA. Kevin N211KA Good to meet you today, Pete and thanks for the beer!
