I agree entirely. You were too polite to mention a good product for
avoiding this problem.
As David Joyce has said eloquently in this month's "Light Aviation" (August
2012) the SmartASS is a good solution to this problem.

Hi Marcel,
I seem to remember that the hose has a 50mm or 2" (50,8mm) ID. Check out the motorsport
suppliers like "Demon Tweeks" who may have them in Silicone hose.

Hi Barry
I think you mean water pipes,You shouldn't use Silicone for fuel/oil,
The fuel inlet pipe is 67mm outside dia and 50.6mm inside Dia just taken
the measurement from the old cut off piece in my workshop,

Subject: | ampreg 21 Hardner |
Hi everyone
wonder if anyone could answer my quick question regarding the ampreg 21 hardener?
I have just received a new batch of resin and standard hardener from Europa. when
I mixed a batch this afternoon it appears to me that the hardener has had a
skin formed on it or it has a contaminant in it as there appear to be long strands
of something within the hardener that pours out when mixing the resin and
hardener.
Can anyone advise if this is normal as when doing a trial layup these strands can
be seen within the lay ups.
I have attached a photo showing the strands just after pouring into the resin.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
Kind regards
Donald

HI Donald,
The laquer coating has come away from the inside of
the tin and causes the orange blobs.
They told me to filter it out which I did but was not prepaired to use it anyway.
Give Tony a ring at Marineware on 02380 330208, they will replace it FOC As they
did with mine,

Thanks Barry, I will have a look at those silicone hoses.
Today I did a more in-depth examination, and it turned out that (instead of the
rubber joining the tank and aluminium elbow of the filler) the rubber joint between
fuel-return line/tank breather and the tank was the one leaking.
After taking that rubber off, I noticed that appr. 30% (!) of the inner-lining
was having severe cracks. No wonder the smell of fuel had increased lately, and
it started to leak...
Hopefully the smell fuel will be gone (or substantially decreased) now I have
a new rubber joint in place...
A valuable lesson learnt: make sure rubber hoses are in tip-top shape, if in doubt,
replace them! I will still have to replace the rubber joint between tank
and aluminium elbow of the filler, if only because I am not 100% sure of the condition
of it's inner lining and I don't have records of when this was replaced
last...
