Hi Gert
I think you are referring to the Ultimate vent, I have a pair fitted and
they work well
even in 40C temps, Mine are fitted just below the front screen and give you
cool air
to your face and not your knee,

Hi Frans,
when I built Europa No. 573, I coated the friction washer and slot with graphite
grease after
noticing that the trim motor appeared to stick/strain when moving, it did not make
a huge difference but enough to smooth it out slightly,
Steve, Europa No.630

Some time ago (years!) I had the seats of my Europa upholstered by a very good
chap down in Devon.
I have been unable to locate him since so have started to look a little wider.
I would like to line the cockpit now to finish the job. Any recommendations preferably
within the UK?
Many thanks
Kevin

Like Steve I had the same problem in 2003. After some discussion with Andy
Draper we came to the same solution, grease it.

There is a list on the Club Web site, Building, Paint and Upholster,
Upholstery.
If anyone has any others to recommend I will be pleased to add them.

Ivor - it was exactly the thread/vents I was looking for!
Looks super.
How are they mounted from the outside?
And could I have the cheek to ask for a picture taken from the outside
... :)
And question at the Forum - someone having one or two of these vents
laying around and want to sell (like I have got a thousand items just
sitting in the shop ...).

Hmm, is greasing a friction device not negating its purpose? Anyway, if
it can be done without adverse effects, I will grease it.
Did you see my email with comments about the incorporation of mod77 (and
questions about the push rod)?

I just used a conventional hole saw slightly smaller than the vent, this
was in a hand drill so you can go very slow, then open the hole to the
correct size using a plastic pipe covered in 180 grit sand paper, this was
done before filling/painting the fuselage,
but with care there no reason why you couldn't do it on a painted
fuselarge,

I documented the "Ultimate Ventilators" & their installation in my build diary
on EuropaOwners.org.
Here is the page on the ventilators:

Here is the installation:

I list the sizes of hole saws needed & technique on individual pics.

I'm thinking of using those vents also,
Those pictures are a lot more use than the info. On the spruce website.
they look fixed or does the inside rotate to direct air in any direction ?

Steve,
The vents don't direct the air, as in up/down or left/right. They adjust the volume
of air. As others have stated, they work very well at bringing in an impressive
volume of air for their size.
I suppose you could fabricate a box with an eyeball outlet to point it where you
want it.
