    Subject: Texel was great
    From: "goff" <goffmoore@aviators.net>
Texel Fly in last weekend I have a compelling need to put finger to keyboard to write in praise of the 4th Dutch Light Aircraft Fly-in at Texel in Holland last weekend. I flew in our Europa G-CHOX from White Waltham in the UK to Texel via Midden-Zeeland for fuel and comfort. The three days were blessed with fine weather, unlike the previous year when low cloud kept me grounded in the UK. The event was planned, organised and run hands-on by Tim Weert and his team of helpers. Congratulations to Tim for being the driving force for this ever-improving event. My guess is that over 100 aircraft flew in, of which over 13 were Europas from the UK, Holland, Germany and Finland. It was great to meet Europa pilots that I knew like Alasdair Milne (G-CEYK), pilots that I was acquainted with like Bob Harrison (G-PTAG) and Ivor Philips (G-IVER) and make new friends like Roger Llloyd (G-BWIJ), Raimo Toivio (OH-XRT) and Marcel Zwakie from Hoogeveen. And many more as well, to whom I apologise for not mentioning. The event boasted a pilots tent with draught beer, wine, soft drinks and hot drinks available all day and evening at any price you cared to donate. The organised dinner and barbeque in the airport hotel restaurant were great. And the local amenities were wonderful with bicycle rides around the island (you could hire a bike for 10 for 3 days), walks over the dunes, swimming for the hardy, and nice cafs and restaurants. And the weather was wonderful. Did I mention that? Great for hanging out at the airfield watching the arrivals and departures and the spectacular para dropping which went on all day. My flight was in total 313nm each way with over two thirds of that being over water, Dover to Koksijde and then up the Belgian and Dutch coast at low level to stay under the Schiphol TMA. Magic. In short - satisfying flying, great destination, wonderful organisation and agreeable camaraderie. Cant wait for next year. Goff, Would you like to think of putting together an article on it for the Europa Flyer with lots of pictures? Subject: Europa Fly In - October 5,6 & 7
    From: Paul McAllister <paul.the.aviator@gmail.com>
Hello everyone, I just wanted to put a final reminder out to the forum that this years Fly In is for 5,6 & 7 of October at Rough River. Although the block of 10 rooms we had reserved at the Lodge have been released to the general public, there are some rooms still available. The resort coordinator confirmed with me that if anyone calls before the end of the weekend and mentions the "Europa fly In" then they will honor the pricing below, - Room Single: 1 Adult $80.96 - Room Double: 2 Adults $80.96 - Standard Cottage: $107.96 (Up to 8 Adults, each additional adult is $10.00 per person) - Deluxe Cottage: $143.96 (Up to 8 Adults, each additional adult is $10.00 per person) - Executive Cottage: $170.96 (Up to 8 Adults, each additional adult is $10.00 per person) So far we have 6 people including myself booked. Thanks and regards, Paul

Paul- Unfortunately, Lynne and I will not be able to attend this year. This is the first one we have missed. Hoping to make it in 2013. Goff, Thank you for the feedback on Texel - I was sorry to miss it this year. Your words have been passed on to our Editor Tony Wickens who already has photos taken by Tim Weert so that should suffice to go into an article for this quarters Europa Flyer. 19 Europas flew in according to the Texel log with the motorglider (John Roedseth) from Luxembourg, Thanks again Steve Pitt Chairman, Europa Club ----- Original Message ----- From: "goff" <goffmoore@aviators.net> Sent: Friday, September 14, 2012 4:50 PM Subject: Europa-List: Texel was great > > Texel Fly in last weekend > I have a compelling need to put finger to keyboard to write in praise of > the 4th Dutch Light Aircraft Fly-in at Texel in Holland last weekend. > I flew in our Europa G-CHOX from White Waltham in the UK to Texel via > Midden-Zeeland for fuel and comfort. > The three days were blessed with fine weather, unlike the previous year > when low cloud kept me grounded in the UK. > The event was planned, organised and run hands-on by Tim Weert and his > team of helpers.
