Reading the article carefully I have at least divined that it is not a joint venture with Apple, and does not automatically post your position to Facebook, but is in fact a souped-up engine. I am still busy with the plane itself, though inshallah I will be coming to the stage where I will need an engine sometime next year. So far though I have little insight into this esoteric part of the build. Herewith therefore some questions I hope some of you who have actually seen an engine close up can help me with: Is this a replacement for the existing ULS or an addition to the range, like the 914? Does it address the same user community as the ULS or does the performance and / or price put it in a different category? Is it a plug-in replacement for the ULS, i.e. would it use the same FF and other hardware? Dynon (and probably others) provide a complete ULS monitoring solution for their EFIS. Would that work with the iS or would it need a different kit? Any idea how much it would cost and what the cost / benefits would be compared to the ULS? Given that it is new, how long would it realistically take until a complete idiot proof installation is available for the Europa? For me that would mean towards the end of next year. But the Europa is a sensitive craft - when trimmed and above the thermal layer, I find I can control ascent/descent like a weight shift microlight by bending or stretching my legs! And lateral trim is certainly different depending on having one up or two. No doubt you know that you can adjust lateral trim by fitting a wedge X-section strip under one or other aileron, but my advice if you are going to do any serious touring would be to fit a single axis autopilot. You can choose to do as much stick waggling as you like, but it will look after the most complex route if connected to the GPS, hold things whilst you refold your chart or find something in the back, save your life by keeping you on an even keel should you stray into or get forced into cloud, as well as look after lateral trim! His name is Rob Seaton. Rotech is the name of the business. Sorry I can't look up his contact info for at the moment, try the Rotax list also. Hi Today I had a 800 RPM drop and a rough running engine on my 914 on the A ignition circuit (top spark plugs), when making pre-flight check. All wires and spark plug connectors seems OK on a visual check. Did not bring the "big" toolbox to the airfield today. Any suggestions were to begin troubleshooting? The swinging arm is not in the centre of the landing gear frame. It is not out by much, 5mm more one side than the other but it is enough to cause the swinging arm to hit the LG frame. The relation of the arm to the LG frame is dictated by the welding of the vertical tubes and there is no sideways adjustment possible. 2. The big pin LG04 that secures the block assembly to the swinging arm is a nice fit and free to rotate in the bushes of the bottom plate LG07 until I adjust the two plates to the correct dimension of 79mm. This must bend the plates slightly because the pin then becomes tight in the bushes and instead rotates within the un-bushed holes of the aluminium swinging arm. I find it strange that the holes in the arm have no bushes especially as there is no mechanism to stop rotation of the pin. I am not too worried about 1. The arm is only 2.5mm off centre and it is to the port side so will give a fraction of extra clearance for the brake cylinder and I can extend the cut away part of the arm to clear the frame. Has anyone else encountered the LG04 pin locking up in the lower plate. I would prefer to see some similar bushes fitted to the swinging arm to prevent wear of the aluminium. -------- Regards Kelv Weston Kit 497 kelv@kdweston.biz Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=383264#383264 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/mono_5_211.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/mono_4_124.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/mono_3_810.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/mono_2_199.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/mono_1_577.jpg ________________________________ Message 9 _____________________________________ Time: 05:57:04 PM PST US Subject: Re: Europa-List: Silicone Hoses for the Rotax 912 / 914 From: Robert Borger Alan, I have installed a set of the silicone hoses and they work great.
