I think the Europa site is very useful, and that Matt Dralle is working hard to keep it up and runing. I'd like to contribute, and pay by credit card. But having been subject to three mega-scams on my card in the last 7 years, one for $50,000, I am very wary about making credit card payments online, except through the large outlets, where there are safeguards in place. It is all about having one's details somewhere on line, where hackers can get in. Of course, I should be addressing this concern direct to Matt Dralle, but every message I have sent to him these last 8 years or so (eg technical stuff about receiving the list to an email address) has had zero response. So probably there would be zero response here. So, does anyone have any ideas about how secure is a credit card payment on the listed site? Hi Richard, Paypal is the industry std, and as an intermediary totally obfuscates your card information from the vendor - and they are owned by Ebay. FWIW I use it regularly without issue, allowing me to not worry about the legitimacy of any of the on-line vendors, no matter how small or how unkown. I used the RAY ALLEN G205 STICK GRIP for the P1 side and a single ptt button on the P2 side Part # 11-09920 on my dog legged stick. Re brake control: I have been using it nearly a year now and haven't had any issues with controlling both, after all one hand on the stick is enough. And you dont need the brake until you are are rolling and have landed. My C42 had a bike type brake but you have to be able to latch it on and on mine it was always needing adjustment. -------- Graeme Bird G-UMPY Mono 912S/Woodcomp 3000/3W Newby: 45 hours g(at)gdbmk.co.uk Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=389262#389262

While I am sorting odd bits and bobs; since build I have had a slight coolant leak when the engine cools. I guess the water stops being pumped, the heads are hot and the pressure builds in the pipe from top bottle to port side of radiator and that joint weeps. Why doesnt it flow to the expansion bottle though? I have a silicon down pipe and good clamp but it still does it. Maybe I need a constant torque type clamp. Tempted to put the original black pipe back on. -------- Graeme Bird G-UMPY Mono 912S/Woodcomp 3000/3W Newby: 45 hours g(at)gdbmk.co.uk Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=389264#389264

Dear Richard et al, One of the reasons I have chosen to run all of the Matronics servers locally is so that I can have a much higher level of confidence in the security of the overall system as well as the security of the Contributions received. You can feel confident that your private card information is handled with the upmost in confidentiality. As Pete pointed out, PayPal is also another industry accepted standard that is available for making a List Contribution. Either method is perfectly acceptable. Over the years I have always tried to answer all email and questions that I have received that were expecting a response. I'm not sure why I haven't received your direct messages in the past, Richard. Perhaps the Barracuda Spam filter was blocking them for some reason. To that end, I have added an exception for your email address specifically, Richard, so your email shouldn't be blocked under any circumstances going forward. Subject: Oil in Turbo on 914
Looking for some advice. My 914 hasn't been run for about 18 months. Oil has been collecting in the bottom of the turbo. I have the hose between the turbo and intercooler disconnected and I can suck up oil with paper towels in that opening. After about 2 months, the oil leaks back in. Any suggestions on what could be causing this? And can I run the engine with the turbo to intercooler to intake disconnected? I'm assuming it would just run like a 912 but not sure. I would only do that for testing. Thanks, Brad Europa XS with Rotax 914

This is often the case if you don't run the engine. The turbo is at a low position, there is a valve in the oil return line but even a tiny leak in that valve will allow the oil slowly to collect in the turbo. Best is to run the engine regularly, at least once a month. Not only for this turbo problem, but also for the rest of the engine. You can also clean/replace the oil return valve. Ideally it should not leak oil, but then again, 18 months is a very long time. > And can I run the engine with the > turbo to intercooler to intake disconnected? Why would you do that? Get out as much oil as you can with a piece of transparent hose (stick it in the turbo, close the other end with your finger, lift it out, take your finger off and the oil runs out of the hose, repeat this until no oil can be caught anymore). Whatever is left will then be burned in the cylinders. Running the turbo without the hose will create a mess and the turbo might(will?) overspeed. The TCU won't see any pressure in the intake so it keeps the wastegate firmly closed, so the turbo will get the full exhaust pressure, and without back pressure on the intake side, it will spool up very fast, without anything limiting it. I wouldn't dare to try, not even at idle. The engine is not ment to be run like that. Frans
