How much tow in are you talking about? I'm setting mine up now and is see there
is a natural tendency for them to toe in a little but before I bond it all in
I wanted to see how much is enough.

Subject: | GPS ground plains |
Allen Skanderup Nielsen asked about GPS ground plains.
I have two installed on my plane. The Garmin 430W came with an 8 foot cable that
is required for the antenna to work correctly. I install this antenna just
behind the baggage bulkhead. I created a 'U' shape bracket of fiberglass and
put a aluminum plate at the bottom. I attached the bracket and antenna to the
roof of the plane. It is working nicely.
The other antenna was supplied by MGL with their EFIS. This antenna has a magnet
on it. So I took a steel plate and again made a plate about one inch wider
than the antenna and used the 'U' shape fiberglass mount. This is glued to the
top cockpit panel. It also came with a long cable that is wrapped along the
back top of the panel.
Both antennas work well. The Garmin requires you to tell it where the antenna
is located. The MGL just works.
I looked for some pictures, but I guess I did take any.

Subject: | Tri-Gear Nose Leg |
Hi all
Can anybody provide a dimension from the Tri-Gear nose wheel leg please.
I would like to know the measurement from where the nose gear leg bushes mount
to the landing gear frame, rearwards to the large cross tube on the gear leg that
the bump stop tube and the Mod 71 springs are mounted on.
I am waiting for my Tri-Gear conversion kit from the Europa factory but would like
to start sorting out the tunnel area. I intend to put a bulkhead in there
and I am trying to decide how far back from the firewall it needs to be to allow
sufficient clearance for the nose gear leg. Also to provide some clearance
for the springs.
I have the Tech Talk drawing that shows the tunnel bulkhead 12 inches back from
the firewall but this looks too far back. The build manual chapter 21T, shows
the lower fuselage cutout as 9 inches back from the firewall.
Many thanks.

17,000 ft with a 912S - VERY impressive!
Which type of fuel did you use? I am thinking about vapour lock (which you
obviously did not experience).

Svein

I used a 1ft square of printed circuit board from maplin mounted copper down with
the antenna pointing down on two bits of ply behind the baggage bay wall straddling
the rudder cables. Seems to work just fine.

Remi,
You are making me jealous.. with winter weather upon us (or just plain wet) our
local strip is waterlogged and flying is a bit thin on the groundMeanwhile our
Europa is making slow progress- we moved house again last month- however here
is a picture of me this summer in almost the same place and same height near
Gap, this time looking the other way and without an engine at all...
More pictures please -as an incentive to get on with the building!
Regards
Bill & Sue
PS Michel,
Fantastic flying and great pictures- did you know that more then 50 French Paragliders
landed on top of Mont Blanc this summer before taking off again and flying
home!

Subject: | Re: Battery Charging |
Hello ALL.
Just to anybody interested, I have found you can get a socket that can be mounted
behind a little door cut into the side of the fuselage, this can be used for
Charging and External Starting.
Another way told to me was to use the cigar lighter socket as an input in reverse,
but the socket would have to be wired directly to the battery, not via the
Master Switch.
I have ended up purchasing a motor cycle external charging unit,
consists of Two eye piece connection leads, one - and one + with built in fuse,
these eyelets go onto the battery terminals,
A plastic moulded two pin connector with cover is at the other end wire, this just
pops out the floor in the rear of cockpit.
I run a short removable connecting lead from this and let the other end dangle
out of the small air vent on the planes front Starboard side.
With the plane all done up in its cockpit covers, I can just plug my little maintenance
charger into the plug.
It works well, a fully charged battery gives a faster spin over and prevents detonation.
Alan
