Thanks Alan, that's just what I've been looking for.
It has to energise the starter relay of course,
Steve.

Morning Alan
I would think so. The starter switch circuit should be protected by a 2 amp
CB according to the manual.
My switch is nothing like as good as that one. Looking at the spec these
are clearly intended for vehicle use so should be fine. You must have
bought the last one the RS website is now showing your link as back order
shipping 15 April.
Another grey and damp morning up here. Glad I got a fly on Saturday it has
not been fit since.
My mate at Goodwood got a go in an Extra 330 on Sunday. He timed the take
off - 4 seconds from start of roll to airborne at 70 kts. Mind you it is a
540 cu in engine that is 9.55 litres! Said it was a lovely aeroplane to fly
even if you could not see where you were going.
Pete

starter motor.
I want to install a separate starter button, i have purchased a press button
switch, rated at 6 amps @ 12 v and 6 amps @ 250v
Is this OK.
The switch spec.

Subject: SV: Europa-List: Re: SV: fuel flow and return line status
From the two replies to my first message, and reading once again Bud
Yerly's detailed explanation last fall on how he set up a one-sender
unit, I now understand how one sender can be made to work accurately
enough to show fuel consumed/remaining. As I indicated in my second
message, the reading error at flows outside the normal cruise power
evidently are of too short duration to give much error in the flow x
time = consumption calculation. The attached illustration shows this
clearly, I think (it is fairly accurate to scale).
I therefore regret my earlier statement that one single transducer
will serve only one useful purpose: with the engine stopped and the
electric feed pump running, one can check that the return line is open.
In actual fact, this feature is an additional feature to keeping good
enough track of fuel consumed (provided that a K-factor has been found
that gives true consumption for a typical flight time).
With my two-sender system (one in feed and one in return line), I
cannot check that the return line is open unless I somehow disconnect
momentarily one of the senders. I have therefore asked Electronics
International in which wire I can introduce a push-to-break pushbutton
mounted next to the display unit. This return flow check will then
become an item in my pre-engine-start checklist.
I will then also be able to inform the List about actual return flows
at various power settings and tank levels, for those who share my
sometimes too deep interest in the mysteries of our aircraft!

Svein

Subject: | Re: SV: fuel flow and return line status |
Thank you, Bud.
For anyone interested, attached is the modification that I will do to the
wiring of my installation, OK'd by Electronics International.
I will use a 12 volt relay with two contact sets. In normal operation, the
relay is not energized. The white wires from both the Feed and the Return
flow transducers are connected to the Differential module as per the
original wiring diagram. Net flow = consumption is displayed on the
instrument.
When I energize the relay, the white wire connection from the Feed
transducer is cut, and the white wire from the Return transducer is
connected to the Feed white wire going up to the Differential module. The
display now shows the return flow.
I will use a momentary pushbutton switch (closed contacts when pushed and
held in the "in" position) so that I do not risk leaving the relay
energized. No chance of upsetting the totalizer function in this way.
As mentioned, I will post some return flow readings on this List when my
flying season begins later in the spring.
Regards,
Svein

Subject: | Re: Stater Relay is 6 amps switch OK |
Hi All.
So 6 amps is OK, i am not a builder so don,t have odd pieces of alloy laying around
so had to use an old plate i found, i have made my little panel and fitted
it in place, also made a little CB panel, to connect it to. Sometime i will
get round to wiring it up,so a couple of questions.
The switches are 6 amps at 135v AC so i am limiting the Aux power sockets to
6 amps each by an in line fuse. I am not sure if the switch would take 10 amps
at 12 volts ? 6 or 10 ?
The usage will be, phone, ipad, inspection lamp, tyre pump,
I intend to put the 2 x in line fuse on the (live + wires) BEFORE the switches,?
The Starter Button, is 6 amps, and power switch also 6 amps, flip the switch and
the START BUTTON illuminates in RED,then Press for start.
Does anyone have the Rotary Mag key starter switch, because i need the starter
relay wire from this switch, i take it that its is single pole so just the two
wire to be taken over to my new switch, which two.?
This will now give me independent mags, for engine starting.
Later the Soft Start module this is only 20 minutes to fit if you have separate
mag switches, its the easy bit.
Alan

Alan.
Just a thought, your aircraft has a LAA permit, I assume , and if so you
must have an LAA inspector to sign off your re wiring work.
He , the inspector, is the best person to check out these options and
changes. and give you advice
. The forum is a good place for information but in the end it is wise to
have your plans looked over by another independent pair of eyes.
regards
Tim

Hi Tim.
Yes , I am fitting torque tube clamps at the moment and the tube are away for the
fitting of new pins as well, but want the whole job done, so my inspector can
check out the whole lot when he visits,
Alan
