I'm wondering what you are using for your neutral point. I followed Bud's suggestion and came out on the money, but it did take a couple of tries before using his method. Bud whats you to use the bottom of the ailerons at the splint between ailerons and flaps. I used an electronic type of level. The two angles in the fuselage have to be vertical. Then the two angles on the wings have to be vertical. Follow on out to the bell crank making sure you have full travel here and that the bellcrank is in neutral position. The ailerons will be the last. I have read a number of the fellow Europa builders that fly with a little up aileron. OK After another full day trying to get the Ailerons set up with failed result. It is simply, I have too much down and not enough up on the both Ailerons. The results are STBD 21.4 Up 22.1 Down 43.5 Total Movement Port 23.1 Down 21.4 Up 44.5 Total Should Be near to 22.5 Min to 25.5 Max UP 19 Min 22 Max Down 41.5 Min to 47.5 Max Total Setup as by the book. QDs in the Fuselage and the Wing root vertical Stops at 24 degrees before wings rigged and adjustments. On trying to correct so there is less down throw by altering the long lateral pushrod in the wing in the opposite so it hits the stop, stopping the opposite aileron going down too far. OK now I measured the deflection it is now correct from its new position Not Neutral but slightly up. Now to bring the aileron back to neutral I have to shorten the aileron link rod. On doing so it puts the aileron back to exactly where I started from ???? Nothing gained at all just a waste of time. All I have to do is to get less down and more up. What am I missing ??? AirEupora I have Used Buds method a few times now and yes it works every time for the first setup to get everything in the neutral position. BUT still too much DOWN and not enough UP John, Im getting within the correct ratio limits as you will see from above. It all just wants the deflections moving up about 2 degrees. Any suggestions will be very welcome :x -------- Richard Wheelwright G-IRPW 90% finished with that 90% to Finish Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=397446#397446

Flying with a little bit of up aileron is not a bad thing, bit of washout b ut also reduces drag in the cruise. =0AI tried to line up the flaps with th e ailerons. The print out of the section from Don's digital figures =0Agave a small amount of reflex at the trailing edge. Just like the gliders use. =0AGraham=0A=0A=0A=0A=0A________________________________=0A From: AirEupora <AirEupora@sbcglobal.net>=0ATo: europa-list@matronics.com =0ASent: Sunday, 31 March 2013, 16:40=0ASubject: Europa-List: Re: Aileron setup=0A =0A--> E uropa-List message posted by: "AirEupora" <AirEupora@sbcglobal.net>=0A=0AI' m wondering what you are using for your neutral point.=C2- I followed Bud 's suggestion and came out on the money, but it did take a couple of tries before using his method.=C2- Bud what=C3=A2=82=AC=84=A2s you to use the bottom of the ailerons at the splint between ailerons and flaps.=C2- I used an electronic type of level. =0AThe two angles in the fuselage have to be vertical.=C2- Then the two angles on the wings have to be vertical .=C2- Follow on out to the bell crank making sure you have full travel he re and that the bellcrank is in neutral position.=C2- The ailerons will b e the last.=C2- =0AI have read a number of the fellow Europa builders tha t fly with a little up aileron.=0A=0A=0A=0A=0ARead this topic online here: =0A=0Ahttp://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=397419#397419=0A=0A=0A - =C2- =C2- =C2- =C2- =C2- =C2- =C2- -Matt Dralle, List Adm ======
