The Europa Club 'Last of the Summer Wine'/ Tour de France trip is due to
happen 16-22 September. Five planes have expressed an interest and I shall
be contacting them individually shortly,to plan where we collectively would
like to go, but if anyone else is interested it would be good to hear from
them soonest before I close the list.

Well, lets try for a future date and location. It would be great to get lots
of Europa folks together again. There are some incredible places to fly out
west. Bob Lindsay and I attended a Flight Design CT fly in a couple years a
go. Based in Page Arizona, we flew to a different location daily for a meal.
Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, fantastic scenery.
It would be great to get the East coast folks out west.
But I still wanna go to McMinnville.

Now thats a place I always wanted to fly to and around. Some of the best
flying weather in the country I hear. I still have my Europa up for sale
but I'm flying it weekly and working on my one health issue. It's hard
to part with a bird that fly's so nice quick & cheap!!
This year would be out for me but if the south west could be a spot for
next year and I'm able I would be all over that!! Flights to those
destinations daily would be what I call a real flyin!!
Just my 2 cents worth.

Hi Pete & Jonathan,
On the subject of tape measures, etc. There is a very useful feature on
Google Earth http://www.google.com/earth/index.html
If one zooms in to any location, the tape at the bottom right hand
corner provides Lat, Long and elevation to the nearest foot. If you use
the "Tools" button at the top, there is a "Ruler" tool which permits you
to measure plan view lengths to miles or inches if you choose. Both the
elevation and plan lengths are very accurate and can be used to measure
building sizes for example. It is very easy to do surveying from the
comfort of your computer.
Cheers, John

Hi Pete,
Short of going out to the runway with tape measures and stopwatches,
our comparisons are likely to be rather subjective.
Twice in the last couple of months since fitting the new undercarriage, we
have experienced trying to take off on grass with half fuel, little/no
headwind and a pilot plus one "fat bastard" passenger. It wasn't fun!
So the real comparison will be made after fitting the new engine and
propeller blades and trying to take off again in similar circumstances.
I'll try to remember to let you know after completing the conversion, which
won't be for several months.

Well, if there is anyone left that had it in their mind to come out this
direction, I'll join you at Evergreen, and/or come on by Sportsman airpark
to check on my build. I don't have the luxury of having any Europa builders
in the area, so I keep my refregerator stocked with some micro-brews just in
case.. Greg.

On my 1370 lb weight increase mod I have a piece of foam "Euro 49", and I haven't
