Hey Paul,
I seem to have posted a reply in the wrong place - see earlier gtagr posts Re:
paint etc
I have about 0.5l of the grey and more importantly a qty of liquid hardener and
some thinners - see pic. I've also listed the supplier in Leicester in case
you want new/different colour.
The tricky bit is how to get it to you as being solvent based paint the RM are
cagey about posting it.
Any good to you?

Matthew Russell sprayed our instrument pod in Nextel when HI was built
- still looks great.
When I rebuilt the instrument panel, I wanted it to match in colour
and texture.
I sprayed severl coats of Rover Tempest Grey (courtesy of Mr Halfords)
- almost perfect match to the Nextel light grey. To get the texture, I
sprayed the final coat by creating a fine mist by 'burst spraying'
while the previous coat was still tacky. Did this about 5 years ago and
still looks very good.

Bob, I missed the earlier part oft his thread, so forgive
me if I am repeating things. Nextel has worked beautifully
for me, but when I was contemplating spraying it myself I
was told that it is pretty toxic and has to be applied
with fresh air breathing mask system - which led me to get

Thanks David. In fact this is on my second Europa, my first having had the panel
sprayed in Nextel by Matthew Russell and still in excellent condition after
15 years.
However I've occasionally had difficulties in getting hold of Matthew and, my being
in the south east of England, it's probably a "post it" to him job for the
instrument panel moulding. I'm reluctant to do that if I can avoid it - "Sod's
Law" and all that kind of thing!
I do have a fresh air mask hence, with all the above in mind, purchasing the Nextel
and spraying it myself is currently my preferred option. I've just spoken
to MANKIEWICZ UK based in Leicester, UK (telephone number is 011 62 84 77 80)
and awaiting their price / pro forma invoice which I imagine will be the same
as Paul M notes below.
Whilst expensive, compared to a quoted figure of 456 by Goldburn for them to paint
the panel moulding and mounting plates, I reckon buying wet and applying myself
needs serious consideration. Furthermore if I have a whoopsy at any time
in the future, I guess it's a simple job of rubbing down and doing again.
Another Europa builder who uses his aircraft a great deal mentioned to me he also
used Nextel for the inside finishing of the doors. Considering the usage, his
doors are still in outstanding condition so I will probably do the same, thereby
making buying the paint wet more worthwhile.

Many thanks, looks like a nice gauge, I have been looking at the link you sent,
it gives pictures of the information as on the lcd screen.
Nice clear single displays, by press button.
I was hoping I would get a few more member chipping I on this, as its handy to
have a few more thoughts on the matter.
Such as LAA approved senders ete, or problems that you encounter in fitting.

I am extremely happy with my FC-10 ( http://www.fdatasystems.com/Products/FC-10/FC-10.html ).
As Raimo, I would be uncomfortable without a FF now I got used to having one.
For all FF's a calibration needs to be performed, which basically means flying
of fuel and recording times and Gallons/Liters, then doing the math. Not a big
deal. As a bit of additional safeguard, I put the actual fuel tank content minus
6 liters in as the maximum for the "virtual tank", and set warning about 3

great.
I check accuracy regularly: just refueling from
the pump and watching the numbers. If FF says
there will be in the tank still left say 23,4
liters I typically fill 42-43 liters (my tank is
68,1 liters) so it has a positive purpose made
error about 5% by K-factor.

As Raimo, I would be uncomfortable without a FF
now I got used to having one.
For all FF's a calibration needs to be performed,
which basically means flying of fuel and recording
times and Gallons/Liters, then doing the math. Not
a big deal. As a bit of additional safeguard, I
put the actual fuel tank content minus 6 liters in
as the maximum for the "virtual tank", and set
warning about 3 liters 'above' the real point
where main tank runs empty and switching to
reserve is required to keep the engine running.

Singleton Navaid mod - the bit of alloy at the base of the
pilot's stick is part of it. Suggest you contact Graham
(grahamsingleton@btinternet.com) and see whether he
is still producing the bits.

Hello All.
The crash occurred a couple of days ago, the aircraft is,
G-GBXS, Mono, 914, crashed killing two on board about 300 to 500 m short of runway.
Built in 1998. look like an Ex Europa Demonstrator, see photo in G info.
It is really sad, the brother was watching the plane when it crashed.
>From the photo, my guess only, it looks like a stall or spin impacted ,
or Structural failure as the plane looks like it hit the ground hard and flat.
We will have to wait for the inspection to get the answer.
Anyway it is tragic misfortune for the family.

I would go for stall or spin, but I understand he was a pilot with a reasonable
amount of hours on type, and they always go for pilot error, so its only guess
work from me, and structural failure meaning loss of control through some component
failing, not the wings breaking off or tail plane.

First, we are a Europa family. so my heart and thoughts go out to the
family. I'm sure most of us who bought Europa's in the early 2000 have

Where did you take your power supply for the gauge from.
And where did you take the power supply for the sender from.
I take it the gauge and sender have one hard wire connection to send the data up
to the gauge, or is there a Wi Fi version.

Subject: | tailwheel arm fitting |
I've drilled the 7/8" hole in F10 for the tailwheel arm. I used outside calipers
to get the centre the correct 1" above the fuselage bottom skin (that is, the
OUTSIDE of the fuselage) and took care to keep the bore of the hole parallel
to the fuselage bottom. The bottom of the hole finished up just clear of the
curved bottom flange of F10.
The tailwheel arm XTW06 fits into the hole, but will not go far enough forward
for the hole at forward extremity of XTW06 to align with the marked centre 160mm
forward of the front face of F10, because XTW06 binds against the bottom of
F10 & of the fuselage.
Do I need to
(a) enlarge the hole in F10 upwards?
(b) relieve F10 & fuselage at the bottom centre to clear XTW06?
Opinions, please!
