Show promise? Looks interesting, cant help wonder why the compression is so low, would maybe lend itself nicely to a low boost turbo to improve the Fuel consumption a bit and allow higher service ceiling. I like the six.... would be super smooth. I hope they don't suffer the same pre-production demise as so many others. http://www.d-motor.eu/nl/expected-specifications-64.htm ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 02:31:36 AM PST US From: Pete Subject: Re: Europa-List: d-motor .... Show promise? =46rom my understanding, the flathead design inherently has a lower compress ion ratio due to the extra wide combustion chamber - a geometric limitation and drawback. Thanks to Fred, Bud & Erich for their useful responses to my query. I'm still seeking confirmation from a UK LAA inspector (or a UK builder who has solved the problem to the LAA's satisfaction) which approach is approved and is not going to cause me administrative grief further down the line. in friendship Rowland | Rowland Carson ... that's Rowland with a 'w' ... | http://www.rowlandcarson.org.uk | Skype, Twitter: rowland_carson Facebook: Rowland Carson | pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/rowlandcarson ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 03:44:57 PM PST US From: GRAHAM SINGLETON Subject: Re: Europa-List: tailwheel arm fitting Rowland=0Ayour inspector shou8ld be able to tell you, if he can't maybe he isn't the right one?=0AYou are the builder so you will- have a pretty goo d idea yourself. This sort of decision is nothing to do with LAA really is it? I don't get the impression you are modifying anything, just adjustment. btw I haven't paid a lot of attention to this thread so add plenty of salt to my remarks. =0AGraham=0A=0A=0A=0A=0A________________________________=0A From: Rowland Carson =0ATo: europa-list@matronics .com =0ASent: Monday, 26 August 2013, 22:52=0ASubject: Re: Europa-List: tai on =0A=0AOn 23 Aug 2013, at 22:07, Rowland Carson wrote:=0A=0A> Do I need to=0A> =0A> (a) enlarge the hole in F10 upwards?=0A > =0A> (b) relieve F10 & fuselage at the bottom centre to clear XTW06?=0A =0AThanks to Fred, Bud & Erich for their useful responses to my query. Rowland, The notation on Fig. 4 on pg 5, chap. 32M describes exactly your "option B"... Surely following the build manual will satisfy the inspector...?... We have a pitch (see the LAA website for the Rally) and the Committee will be on hand to welcome you all, Europa followers/owners etc. If you are not a member, Membership forms will be on hand. The Club marquee will be pitched although forecasts suggest it will be used for shelter from the sun rather than rain (let's hope that is accurate). Whilst the Committee have arranged stand rotas anyone able to give an hour or so's help to talk to the public would be welcome. We are trying to arrange dedicated Europa parking. Light refreshments will be available and the donation box will be in action. See you over the weekend.
