On page 23M-9 (issue 2) of the PDF (files dating from both 2005 & 2008), it describes applying BID tapes to the joint between the fuselage upper and lower mouldings along the top of the firewall. But my paper manual (also marked issue 2 but dated October 1999) also calls for tapes along the rear top edge of the rear bulkhead (in the base of the fin). Does anyone know why the later manual omits the BID tapes on the rear bulkhead? And is it safe to do so? (Thinks - maybe I'll ask Andy if I see him on Saturday at the Rally.) in friendship Rowland | Rowland Carson ... that's Rowland with a 'w' ... | http://www.rowlandcarson.org.uk | Skype, Twitter: rowland_carson Facebook: Rowland Carson | pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/rowlandcarson ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 10:18:31 AM PST US From: GRAHAM SINGLETON Subject: Re: Europa-List: build manual discrepancy Rowland, imho the tapes on the rear bukhead are required, can be high loads on the fin=0Aat times (spin recovery for one) which will put a lot of tors ion into the fuselage.=0AGraham=0A=0A=0A=0A=0A_____________________________ ___=0A From: Rowland Carson =0ATo: Europa e-mail l ist list =0ASent: Thursday, 29 August 2013, 15: 16=0ASubject: Europa-List: build manual discrepancy=0A =0A=0A--> Europa-Lis t message posted by: Rowland Carson =0A=0AI have g enerally regarded the PDF versions of the manuals available on the factory website as most up-to-dat and reliable, but I've just noticed a discrepancy that makes me doubt that conventional wisdom.=0A=0AOn page 23M-9 (issue 2) of the PDF (files dating from both 2005 & 2008), it describes applying BID tapes to the joint between the fuselage upper and lower mouldings along th e top of the firewall. I was doing a propeller balance last night and I went to re start the engine and I was greeted with a "click". I checked the cable connections and they were tight. My initial thought was that the soleniod contacts were dirty or worn, but I found that if I rotated the propeller then it would kick over okay so now I not sure. Before start pulling things apart I'd like to know if anyone has had problems in this area. Thanks, Paul ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 10:54:34 AM PST US From: Jeff B Subject: Re: Europa-List: Starter problems Paul, While solenoids "can" be the problem, that's not always the case. Worn starter brushes are more common. You said turning the prop made it start. Was the starter drive, perhaps stuck in the flywheel ring? Might want to check that the starter is bolted down tight. If nothing obvious comes up, bring the starter and solenoid to a repair shop, specializing in starter/alternator repair and let them have a look... Very lightweight and somewhat expensive. I plan to use it in my Europa. I would think you will still want to use somethink like a floor mat too keep objects from sliding around. I can't speak for its durability though. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cmpages/zolatonepaint.php Kyle On Aug 27, 2013 9:27 PM, "Tony Renshaw" wrote: > > Gidday, > I'm working in the aft cockpit area and am wondering if anyone has found a > suitable paint styled finish that I could apply at this stage, to give a > light weight but fairly harsh interior.
