I have these Aircraft Spruce snapvents in my Europa classic in Kenya. One in each side window (door). Roughly level with my head, slightly down. They work a treat, by adjusting you can get air flowing through the cabin leftways or right. Also, being removable, you can take them out for oblique aerial photography (but only before flight, so don't want to fly in rain). The only problem is that a determined person can remove them from outside, and access your door handle from inside, or fish around if he a long gibbon-like arm. Can get pictures of them, but nowhere near the plane till December. Again to the assembled wisdom. I remember seeing that the optimum arrangement for the radiators is one above the other. Can someone send me pics / diagrams /description of how this is done. Thanks Will

Hello Goff, Apologies for the delay in responding but I have been away on holiday in Ibiza with the family and have just returned. I didn=92t have access to any of my files so couldn=92t send anything. Firstly I am sorry to hear about your radiator problems - hopefully you will be on your way towards sorting these out by now. My Europa is imminently due some major repairs/ servicing in that the undercarriage bearings and shock absorbers need replacing (and the engines annual service). An easy enough job though as with most things Europa its difficult to access. I am also aware that despite the Loctite fix/ modwe are starting to develop play in one of the tail plane attachments so at best this will involve crawling down the back end and dismantling the tail plane tube assembly (I have done this twice before - not an easy job). I had hoped to send you some video clips to show the before and after results but the files are pretty large (even after editing) - about 10mb and 20mb respectively. I know many email systems don=92t like such large files and I haven=92t got anything sorted with you tube as yet. Although I have been messing about for several years trying to get some decent flying footage it has always been sporadic due mainly to work commitments. Fortunately I am now retired (as of July) so will hopefully have more time to perfect this art. I purchased a copy of Sony Vegas Studio but have yet to master even the basics of editing - perhaps the program is more sophisticated than I really need - but having paid the money I am loathe to purchase something else (I know we are only talking about =A320 - =A350) but if I have something that does the job then its extra cost (and im a pensioner lol !) I can see you have got to grips with editing and adding the music soundtrack - so far that bit is beyond me. Regarding the anti vibration mount I put one together and tried it out a couple of weeks ago - the results were very promising but as you can see from the photos attached the mount itself is unduly cumbersome. This is mainly due to my mounting a remote pan/ tilt head on the anti vibration pad. So there is a bit of work to be done there. The pan/tilt head is very handy to make minor adjustments but probably unnecessary. I will update you when I have made some more progress. I did see there was a guy selling a relatively cheap mount on Ebay (he was in Israel) but the results on his you tube video were impressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q57e0-dc2w8 . Unfortunately I have lost the Ebay link to this and cant find the ad again - he was only selling these for about =A320 which was pretty reasonable. I am also looking at the option of using my Canon DSLR (which has very high quality video) and has an inbuilt in stabiliser. I have found an android application that allows remote control of the camera from my phone (via an USB cable) so other than mounting the camera in the aircraft should be relatively simple (the anti vibration mount wouldn=92t be needed). This could then be operated easily in flight. I note that GoPro have their own Android/ Apple application that allows remote control of your GOPro camera from a phone/ tablet device. I think its free from what I recall. Anyway I will update you once I have made some progress and we can compare notes. Kind regards, Carl PS: Where are you based (ie: your aircraft) - White Waltham (im guessing) ??? -----Original Message----- From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of goff Sent: 17 October 2013 18:36 Subject: Europa-List: Re: Bliss Carl, I mounted the GoPro in my Mooney for the first time today. Got lots of vibration and jerky footage. So I must be lucky where I mount it in the Europa. Dave, If I were doing it, I would remove the tufnol block and feather off the gla ss on the Rib for 6'', scuff for 9'' and probably leave the fairing lay up alone, just scuff it. Feather it best you can [ or until you get fed up ! ] Ampreg 21 is cr*p ! Needs to be warmed well above 25 to make it thin enough to use. Even on hot [ for here] days I shove the can in front of a fan hea ter. Look in the can now, chances are if it was stored over here for a while and got cold it will be like porridge [ or what is that awful breakfast you gu ys have, ''grits'' ? ] yuk ! You will have to really warm it to have the gr its fall out of suspension, done once it will stay clear. Ampreg 21 with std hardener is pretty well useless to use, flashes off in t he pot, then takes an age to cure on the job, at least with the slow harden er, even when you have warmed the resin, you have a reasonable time to get it on the job, still mix it in small quantities, and dump it into a roller tray for use with the roller. Keeping the resin warm, and perhaps the wetting out bench with a fan heater blowing over it will let you be able to wet out the cloth OK, once you hav e done the lay ups, and peel plied them, being at 15C for a while until it starts to cure won't be a problem. Then make up some sort of fireproof tent / box / duct to let you warm it to 20 + overnight with some sort of dry hea t [ no kerosene / propane ] Cheers, Nev. -----Original Message----- From: djaflyact <djaflyact@gmail.com> Sent: Fri, Oct 25, 2013 7:23 am Subject: Europa-List: Re: MOD 78 OK - Just as I was starting to feel like this mod was going to go OK..... If I have to remove the controls and the tufnol block, then there is the issue o f the fiberglass that is used to mount the wing root fairing. I assume that I hav e to just grind through all that too? The grinding of fiberglass is easier than carbon, so maybe it won't be too bad. I will not take all of the root rib g lass off, fearing grinding into the root rib, which would not be good. I still think that splicing into the existing fiberglass on the spar to roo t rib junction would work fine, but you are right - it has not been tested. I've finished the grinding, but now have more. I do have one question: The Ampreg 21 says best to use between 18 and 25 degrees C. What is the real wo rld on this? RIght now, the weather is perfect as far as temperature and wind, but in the not too distant future, the temperature will drop to where we will n ot see above 15C for quite some time. Having to do more grinding pushed me int o the colder weather. I have a large hangar, which is very difficult to heat. Thanks for all the inputs.
