Hi,
Anybody know if Europa or the Club still has a stock of jackets, T Shirts etc.
I have a member of our Syndicate who wants to "come out" so I am looking to point
him in the right direction.
Yes, I have already suggested he takes out a years subs to the club - perhaps I
should stop lending him my back issues of the Flyer magazine.
Thanks,

Does anyone know of any Europas in Russia? I am in Moscow a lot these days, and
maybe there's a kindred spirit out there. I remember a map on Ivan Shaw's wall
in Kirkbymoorside in 1994, stuck with pins to their export countries, and
there was definitely one smack in the middle of Russia.
I imagine that the Russian CAA (or whatever they have) would fall about in hilarity
if any lunatic applied to bring in a Kenya-made Europa.

Richard, there is definitively one Europa in Russia. The current owner wants to
sell it already for some time. He made a video some time back:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHPIPTRMVi0
This plane is located in Yutsa, a small city close to Geaorgia. So pretty far from
Moscow!
There is another Europa in the region. N205CN is based in Kiev, Ukraine for the
last 5 years. Here is a picture with 2 other Europa who flew to Ukraine last
summer. We landed on a field of the Dutch farmer (also a pilot) in the middle
of the country to get some fuel and some food :-)

Hi,
There's a clip on you tube of a Russian Europa (about a year old). Not sure where
exactly - has some nice low level footage (clearly no problems with the 500
ft rule !)
Perhaps someone can translate !

Update: After countless hours and many days of work, the final wrap layers of
carbon fibre cloth have been applied. They are cooking as I type. I've learned
a few things and so far, it has been going well. I have to say that if the
spar ends up not fitting into the airplane, I have no idea what to do to make
it fit. I could not have been more careful.
I'm using foam panels and a thermostatically controlled heater to keep it at about
25C for the cure. That worked well. The resin news to be 18C minimum to work.
I made a template for the location of the aileron bell crank hole and decided to
find the hole after each layup of 2 layers. I drilled it out each time. Thought
about probing with a needle and marking it, but it was easy to find through
2 layers.
Haven't measured the thickness yet. Should be able to attempt fitting it into the
airplane about Monday.
This is a huge job, but it seems like each step is fairly straight forward. If
you are doing it, gather all the tips from all sources and then plunge in with
common sense. THANK YOU to Neville for his irreplaceable help!!!!

Subject: | Belleville Washer |
Seems I have misplaced my Belleville Washer for the pip pin after removing it from
they spar. Does anyone know a good source in the US for the washer? I've googled
the part number and it hits on a UK website only and Europa. Can't seem
to figure how to order it from the UK site. IT called for Hardened steel and
I did order some from Fastenal, but none of their washers list hardened steel
- just "steel". Not sure if that is a washer that will do the job.
Thanks,

Thanks everyone, and especially for the video. There is hope. My wife, who is
Russian, has tracked down two local aviators who speak English, and I'll be meeting
up with them sometime soon in Moscow to go out to a local flying club where
they have Yaks, Sukhois and a couple of 172s. Its now snowing full-on, going
to be the way for a while, I'm on child duty with our 1 year old and 6 year
old, plus Kenya work continues (its a hell of a commute), so it may be in the
spring. Will let you know state of GA.
