The Navaid Gyro unit is a turn coordinator, not an attitude indicator. In an emergency
it would be a backup but it is certainly not suitable as a primary instrument.
It works great as a wing leveler and AP following a GPS track though when used
with a servo.

Hi! All,
It seems that we Private Pilots aren't the only ones to make errors !!!Must
have had his GPS turned off ? Couldn't have been using Sky Demon anyway !
Regards
To all.

Hi Bob,
Looks like all's well that ends well. The pilot landed at the wrong airport
and yesterday there was some concern that the runway was too short for him
to take off. However I see this morning they managed to depart OK.

Thanks for the suggestion Bob, although the part priced at $59.90 in the Aircraft
Spruce catalogue is P/N 10-00700. I've no doubt that after adding shipping
and UK import taxes and duties, the price landed at my door will be almost double
that.
So anybody out there within the UK, please point me towards a surface-mounted balance
ball of the narrow horizontal type. Thanks.

These are very good points, and I wondered about them myself. To add
to that list, plastic tanks are seamless constructions and do not
rust. UV damage is an issue in boats (where they may be exposed to
direct sun), but probably not a concern in aircraft. It is also
partially transparent so it is possible to use an optical level sensor
from the outside of the tank.
If made from the right plastic and installed correctly, I think a
plastic tank should be significantly better. Unfortunately, the Europa
tanks are not made from the right kind of plastic, and the
installation method is flawed.
