Jonathan,
Look at a marine store for a clinometer that is used to measure angle of heel in
a sailboat. They run about $15 US.
Or in camping trailers (caravans) there usually is a level like you want to adjust
the camper to the pitch of the campsite. They also are about $15 US.
I assuming that you don't need a "certified" slip skid balance ball.

The Navaid Gyro unit is a turn coordinator, not an attitude indicator. In an
emergency it would be a backup but it is certainly not suitable as a primary
instrument.
It works great as a wing leveler and AP following a GPS track though when
used with a servo.
