Ferg, I have the same problem from time to time when reading the digest version: dozens of unreadable pages! It seems to occur on the digest version only. I do not have any explanation but one solution to get around that is to view the forum on the Matronics website: http://forums.matronics.com/viewforum.php?f=9 Regards Remi Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=414830#414830

Dear Forumites I have a need sometime in January to collect my MG wings from Yorkshire to bring them back to near Southampton. I am still looking at options but one would be to drive up with a mono or tri trailer with wing slings. I was wondering therefore if anyone in the SE of England had a trailer that they might be happy to lend me for a weekend just to do that journey? If anyone is able to help then please let me know off forum: richard.churchill-coleman@sky.com. Many thanks Richard CC XS Mono

    Subject: fuel tank selectors?
    From: "gtagr" <clive.maf@googlemail.com>
Gents (and Ladies), During this years maintenance, I'm considering putting a new fuel valve into my flying Europa to replace the 6749 valve - which I suspect is weeping a bit (responsible for the cockpit fuel smell problem? Does anyone have any advice/experience of using the Andair range of selectors fitted to the upper horizontal surface of the tunnel - just aft of the instrument panel? Not sure in particular if at that height (about 350mm higher than the tank outlets) it may cause problems - and if to overcome that, if anyone has used a remote selector connected by a shaft to the valve sited closer to the fuselage floor? Soonest replies appreciated. Clive Sutton Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=414835#414835

Soonest replies appreciated. I have such an Andair selector (like many others), and indeed mounted it quite low with an extension shaft to the selector knob. I'm very happy with the setup. The Europa supplied fuel valve is a piece of junk if you ask me, never installed it (like so many other supplied pieces). I got the impression it is for the water supply in the house and never intended for fuel, let alone for installation in an aircraft. It is heavy as well. Frans

Clive - I installed my Andair selector before I bonded in the cockpit module (which is probably a lot easier than doing it as an upgrade to an existing installation). You can see some of the pictures of my installation at; http://www.rowlandcarson.org.uk/aviation/europa_435/fuel_valve_trial.php and http://www.rowlandcarson.org.uk/aviation/europa_435/fuel_pipes.php and other pictures nearby in the sequence. I haven't yet had official approval of this specific arrangement, but I believe it is quite similar to what some others have done. in friendship Rowland | Rowland Carson ... that's Rowland with a 'w' ... | <rowlandcarson@gmail.com> http://www.rowlandcarson.org.uk | Skype, Twitter: rowland_carson Facebook: Rowland Carson | pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/rowlandcarson

Hi Rowland - in your installation using metal fuel pipes instead of rubber hoses, where are your fuel filters - aren't they installed between the tank and the fuel selector when you use rubber hoses or have I misunderstood the build manual? Hi Fred, I do not think that it is you or your computer. I received the same vast package (world record, I think) of random numbers and letters. I get my Europa list messages using the daily digest summary and I think the Matronics server has indigestion with some attachments in the summary digest format. In fact it usually strips off attachments. If you change to the simple delivery of emails as they are sent, you may not have the problem. This is all just part of life's rich pattern and meant to confuse those of us who are not 'with it'. Cheers, John ------------------------------------------------------------------------ /Time: 07:14:30 AM PST US From://<f.kyle@sympatico.ca>// Subject: Europa-List: It's not fair..... Cheers, I feel I'm losing vital information - and perhaps should consult a local guru. Today's (3DEC) listing includes about 8k of data in the form of letters and numbers, which my computer has failed to interpret. This is not the first time, and I'm wondering if I'm no longer "with it". Please put me out of my misery - technically speaking. Richard - sorry, I guess I should have explained that. After considerable thought, I've decided not to use the filters (as supplied in the kit and described in the manual) between the tank and the selector. I understand other aircraft have been cleared to fly with a similar arrangement to mine. (I think I've heard that the prototype Europa fuel system originally used a single filter downstream of the selector and this was only changed to separate ones because it could block so easily.) I'm using an Andair gascolator to be mounted under the baggage area near the electric fuel pump. It provides better filtering than the inline filters supplied in the kits, but nonetheless is more resistant to blockage by debris. I recognise it presents a potential risk as a single point of failure, but in contrast to the inline filters it offers easy checking (and particularly cleaning if necessary) before every flight. Another reason for discarding the supplied filters was that I couldn't find an elegant way of interconnecting them with the aluminium piping. in friendship Rowland | Rowland Carson ... that's Rowland with a 'w' ... | <rowlandcarson@gmail.com> http://www.rowlandcarson.org.uk | Skype, Twitter: rowland_carson Facebook: Rowland Carson | pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/rowlandcarson

I have been following this thread quite closely as i am building a mono and one day it will need to stand on its own. I have seen many different solution's to the problem but yours David or Roger's is the best iv seen as not only does it hold the fuselage upright it can be raised to replace pads ect AND it can be used to hold the fuselage in transit AND hold it while rigging!! I was that taken with it that last evening i started to make my own my taking splash mouldings of the fuselage, so as was said before thanks for sharing David. Thanks Frank Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=414856#414856 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/splash_moulding_587.jpg

    Subject: One wing Low
    From: "AirEupora" <AirEupora@sbcglobal.net>
I have been trying to figure out why my airplane flies One Wing Low on the left wing. I have tried a number of things to see if I could get the wing up. Bud suggested that I tape a couple of pencils to the opposite Aileron and that helped, but not help that much. I have lower the flap on the left and that has helped in the cruise flight, but as soon as I slow down the wing well drop. I have attached a couple of picture showing the aileron that I need for cruise flight. When I installed the W26A I took pictures of both wings showing 2.5 degrees. I also took picture of the string across the wings tips. Yesterday, I took measurement of the wings using a 'T"-square. The measure show that the wing is installed very close as I also took measurement off another Europa in the hangar. My measurements were as follows: Left Tip F/A Root Root F/A Tip 8 8 7/16 8 7/8" 9 1/2" 8 1/2" 8 1/4" F/A stand for mid wing where flaps and aileron come together. I then took measurement from the tail plane tips to the aileron tip break out. 133 and 131 maybe 7/8. I took an inside measurement from the fuselage tail plane leading edge to the aileron break out of 165 7/8 and 165 Im thinking that I might place a shim in the left W26A and move the wing forward. The inch that it seems is out. Id like to hear from you your thoughts regarding what I might do to correct it. One other thing, I weight 250lbs. I have put sand bags up to 150lbs in the right seat. It did not help with my problem. For what it's worth, I think you could have one wingtip inches ahead/behind the other and if the angle of incidence was the same on both, there would be negligible roll. Remember that the wing that is more aft is still producing in essence the same amount of lift. A smart bunny might be able to work it out but there just isn't anything in it. To move any primary structure now would be an immense gig. There has tobe other tweaks. Tony R.
