Hi Everyone.
Does anyone have an upper cowling splash moulding for the opening to the engine
cylinders cooling cover that I could borrow.
Thanks Rod

Hello Rod,
I still have the moulding supplied with new LOWER cowlings to form a hole that
ducts into the rotax GF cyl heads cover - is that what you are after? Let me
know/address and I can post to you
Clive.

Hi Ferg,
Sorry to hear of your digest problems. Sometimes the automation fails, or people
(or bots) send malicious malformed messages that gum up the works.
I would suggest that you try the web-based approach to reading the forums,
it has many advantages, including the allowing you to pick and choose what
threads to read, and the easy ability to look through other forums, like
for example the Rotax Engine forum, or even the Aeroelectric forum, all
with no commitment to mandatory downloads of huge piles of Email.
To view the forums on the web, just click on http://forums.matronics.com
or copy/paste that URL into your web browser.
Cheers,

The easy fix is for posters to use an occasional carriage return when typing
into a thread.

Subject: | Re: Fuel tank outlet connector hose |
Andrew
We initially used the revised fittings from Graham Singleton. With those a larger
inner diameter hose is needed.
One of those fittings backed out of the tank. So we made up new fittings with
a lip to aid with retention. Our tank outlets are very close to 1 1/8 inch OD.
We purchased preformed radiator hose whose ID is 1 1/8 and cut out straight
sections to fit. Seems like we had to get preformed hoses because straight hose
was not available in 1 1/8 inch. We replace these every 5 years and inspect
every year.
I'll post a drawing of the fitting in the next couple of days. Currently having
computer problems and can't print anything!

Why do you say "the Europa supplied fuel valve is a piece of junk"? I
am not questioning it, just trying to understand. The same valve is
also listed in the Aircraftspruce catalog, so I can only presume that
it is an aircraft worthy valve. I agree that it looks like a backyard
water faucet, but besides the appearance are there any other factors
that makes is less suitable?

It is not made of light weight materials, it has no "locking feature",
and if I remember correctly one even has to modify it. "Piece of junk"
is maybe exaggarated but at the time of classification I was
frustrated how much I spent on kit-parts that I never used because of
the inferior quality or suitability for something that was going to be
a "once-in-a-lifetime" project of proud. And I never thought it would
be in the Aircrafspruce catalog but assumed it was indeed a backyard
water faucet.

Aircraftspruce also sells a big red handle (similar to Andair) to
replace the stock handle. Surprisingly this handle costs than the
valve itself. It seems this is the setup used in all RV aircraft.

Mine is 11 years old (2002). I have gas smelt in the cockpit when open
it after few days and still can=99t find a solution. I will
repalce the pipe between the cap filler and the tank with an appropriate
pipe and the selector by an Andair and let you know.

I am curious as to how the control linkages / system has held up over those
many hours. Is there much increased free play?
Cheers and thx,

I do not have the highest houred Europa, as I know of one other with more an
d there may be others.
As for control play, there is no more now than there was at the end of the b
uild although there are a couple of jobs that I have had to do along the way
.
I have replaced a couple of the aileron hinges and I have beefed up the flan
ges that the hinges for the ailerons and trim tabs are attached to (in addit
ion to the factory suggested beef up). I have also gone to the larger pins i
n the tailplane attachments.
The only other maintenance area is the bushes in the mono swinging arm retra
ction links, which I seem to replace at around 400 hour intervals.
Other than that it is just routine like disc pads etc.
