Fwiw, I use this on my motorcycle as well as an idiot light on my other homebuilt.
Single bright red led, with different and intuitive flashing patterns for
under voltage and over voltage. I have tested their calibration and they are
within 0.1V. Flashes when power is first applied, then stays off (as an idiot
light should) when the voltage is in the normal holding/charging range for
a lead acid battery. Comes shrink wrapped as opposed to the photo in the link.

Tony, I agree with David Joyce and furthermore while my aircraft was a mono-wheel
for 16 years, I did temporarily move the battery from the engine bay to inside
the rear fuselage. My old classic has the baggage bay bulkhead further forward.
I and three experienced friends who share my aircraft all agreed that having the
C of G further aft was a mistake, because the tendency to swing off runway direction
on landing was noticeably worse.
Having the original very direct steering tail-wheel under the fin gave us immediate
feedback to directional control issues on the ground, which can be masked
by the springy links in the more recently extended tail-wheel design.
I know this for sure because I did the first test flights for a friend's 914 mono-wheel
aircraft and have flown it for several hours subsequently. Please take
the advice to keep the C of G mid-range or a little forward. You won't risk
it nosing over when applying the brake as long as you keep the stick fully back.
The tail-planes are very powerful.

Oil Thermostat
I'm considering fitting the Oil thermostat supplyed by Conair in the UK (Approved
LAA Mod) My Question is. After removing my cowl and considering the best
location to mount the thermostat, Does anyone have any pictures of a suggested
location. As the thermostat is quite large with the hose connections fitted to
it.
Thank you in advance

Hi Richard
I have recently fitted the oil thermostat as part if my build. I have mounte
d mine on the starboard footwell as per the photo. Im not sure if this pict
ure is off the thermostat in its final position as I had to move it up from i
ts first location, so that it didn't kink the oil hose going to the oil cool
er.
I will be going to the aircraft shortly to do some other bits, so can take m
ore photos for you if you want?
Kind regards
Donald

Donald,
That looks like a good position. I can see that you may have had to re-fit
the Stat higher as joining to the cooler would ba a problem. I would be interested
in some more pictures of your final installationn to the cooler without
kinking the pipes and allowing slow bends.

Hi Richard
It seemed the best location to me at the time off installation.
I had also considered putting it on the side of the starboard footwell, however
as I have incorporated the cabin heater mod my cabin air inlet is on the side
so space is limited.
I'm at the aircraft at the moment so will drop the from lower cowl before i finish
tonight and take a few more photos for you.
Kind regards

No evidence of any sealant on the old and non used on the new.
Have not used worm drive but these Ezyclick clamps which are common in the m

Well done John. Nice to know there are people who quietly go about their
business doing some flying.
I note you still haven't flown it up my way yet so when it cools off a bit,
please consider it. In case you can't remember where I live, look up Gatton
Airpark!

Kingsley

Here are a few pictures of the top of the engine with the mounting location.
We will provide thy thermostasis units as well as the 4 required hoses and
the 4 AN fittings for the thermostasis unit.
All fittings on the hoses are stainless steel. In addition all hoses are co
nductive Teflon and are pressure tested and fire sleeved.
We are finalizing details of the install kit now.
Have a great week
