I had unfortunately to fly with the passenger door off as it departed the ship due to the passenger shocking the lock with his elbow=85 Kind of =93depressurization=94, all the papers flown in the cockpit with a big noise and buffeting like in a storm on a boat! My first reaction was to fly the ship and then look where to land. As we were fortunately close to our harbor I started to lower the speed and was quite surprised to see that by 80Kt when I put the flaps out it came back to a normal behavior (actually I=92m not even sure if it was =93un-normal=94 reducing from cruise speed except noise and wind inside after it happened or few seconds later)... and I standard landed. So to me under 100 Kt or so, flying with a door off should be a non-even but I wouldn=92t either have to try it again. Hello Rowland, I had the same problem as you. Added a new flange inside, same solution as Fred mentioned in his reply. It works well. Regards, Alfred Alfred Buess CH-3700 Spiez, Switzerland Europa XS HB-YKI, Ercoupe 415-E N94804 -----Ursprngliche Nachricht----- Von: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] Im Auftrag von Rowland Carson Gesendet: Dienstag, 4. Mrz 2014 20:03 An: Europa e-mail list list Betreff: Europa-List: instrument module wider than firewall - what to do? --> <rowlandcarson@gmail.com> I was just offering up the instrument module to the firewall (before the top gets bonded on) and the flanges of the IM protrude beyond the edges of the firewall. The way things are stored at present prevents me from easily checking if the IM will fit within the shape of the upper fuselage at the firewall. If it doesn't, it appears that the flanges of the IM will have to be cut back so much that there will scarcely be enough meat left for the fixings. Has anyone else had this problem? Have I been issued with a mis-matched instrument module & fuselage moulding? Any observations welcome. in friendship Rowland

Further to an earlier posting, does anyone have any information or photos of the Europa being used as a glider tug in Germany? It struck me at the last LAA rally that pretty much anything with wings and a 912S was being promoted as a glider tug and trying to tap into the Eurofox success. I'm guessing that cooling could be a big issue on the Europa though? Phil Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=419812#419812

Hi Rowland, I did something similar to what Fred did. Take a look at http://www.europa.net.nz/363/2001/images/flange_in_instrument_panel.jpg Cheers, Paul From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Fred Klein Sent: Tuesday, March 4, 2014 3:08 PM Subject: Re: Europa-List: instrument module wider than firewall - what to do? Rowland.I would tend to doubt that; however, I found that the exterior flange, when trimmed to allow the insertion of the instrument panel module into the fuselage, was insufficient. Consequently, I mounted an inside flange which allowed me to use shock mount bolts which provide a 1/2" space between module and firewall, useful for both vibration isolation as well as providing a means of cooling air circulation.a couple of the shock mounts are visible thru my initial cut-out for my instrument sub-panels.Good luck, Fred

Phil I believe that Erich Trombley visited with Walter Binder in Germany a couple of years back. He might have some pictures. Paul
