From: Tony Renshaw <tonyrenshaw268@gmail.com>
Gidday, I'm experimenting with an idea to incorporate a Flood panel light system, us ing dimmable LEDs. I don't want to see them, so I need to hide them in the i nstrument panel coaming, and to do that I need to thicken it. I'm interested if anyone else has done that, and I wouldn't mind making mine capable of ac commodating an energy absorbing material, like a rubber hemispherical sectio n. Below is the start of this little experiment with a foam buildup that I w ill sand back against the original panel, but thicken the coaming, and hopef ully embed my LEDs within, so I can't see them. I also thought of incorporat ing either an annunciator bulge in the middle, or a Caution/warning light in the same spot. I'd like to request input especially from not too tall pilot s (I'm 5'9"_175cm) as to the max thickness I could make the coaming without o bscuring the top instruments. Thanks. Regards Tony Renshaw Johannesburg, then home..Sydney. Sent from my iPad

Tired of the winter weather! Join Bud and Anita Yerly at Sun 'n Fun April 1-6, 2014. Custom Flight Creations, your Airmaster Propeller and Europa Aircraft Dealer in the States, will be showing a Europa LSA/Stol aircraft at the tent. We are also showing our new Airmaster AP420 Prop, wheel pants and other odds and ends for you to ponder. Look for us on spot 33 just Northeast of Hangar C near the flight line taxiway (where we were last year). Stop by and chat a bit and get a much needed drink and some shade from the Florida Sun. We will also have videos and photos of some of our modifications and upgrades for the Europa that we normally did not share outside the shop. We have ready to fly away XS aircraft with the Rotax and Jabiru engines, as well as a Motor Glider aircraft on the flight line for sale. We have a number of used fast build kits available for those looking for a new project and partially built kits at the shop for sale. Many aviation companies are pulling out the stops to come on down to get out of the rotten weather. The airshow looks to be great, and the homebuilders are already planning to come on down and camp out. See www.sun-n-fun.org<http://www.sun-n-fun.org/> website if you need reservations, tickets, or just fly or drive in. Come join us for a week of great fun in the sun. So far Jerry Hope, Kim Prout, and Jeff Roberts, Ivan Shaw and many others will be here. More are clearing the ice off their planes and flying, and driving south. Ask about volunteering for Sun 'n Fun for the week (1/2 day of labor required ) and getting a week long pass for free. Heck, the Garmin upgrades and a free week pass pays for half the trip. My EAA Chapter makes sandwiches for the volunteers (yea, a free lunch) from 0900 until 1200 daily starting the Friday before the show until the last day and you get a week long pass. You have to work at least 4 days though. See you then, Bud Yerly

Rowland, This message was delayed by my aging shop computer. Photo E-mail View slideshow <>| Download images <> Rowland, Just my two cents. I have never had a module not fit, but to be sure, the flange on a couple were only just wide enough for the nutplates. I prefer to add a flange on the inside, as others have, and extending the flange to the bottom pilot side also to stiffen up the bottom and top skins. By eliminating the upper and side flanges the panel can be installed slightly higher. However, watch for your clearance for the cowl nutplates. Keep in mind any wire bundles have got to be planned for early, as it is often necessary to cut holes in the lower right and left area for those under the door sill wire bundles, add possibly a center cutout or tunnel to allow a down the centerline wire bundle. One other side benefit to eliminating the flange is interior fabric finish or paint finishes on and around the windscreen area can be made a bit neater (is that a word?) leaving only the pesky cowl nutplates protruding into your line of sight (painted interior) or poking into your fabric headliner... The way things are stored at present prevents me from easily checking if the IM will fit within the shape of the upper fuselage at the firewall. If it doesn't, it appears that the flanges of the IM will have to be cut back so much that there will scarcely be enough meat left for the fixings. Has anyone else had this problem? Have I been issued with a mis-matched instrument module & fuselage moulding? Hi guys & gals, Thanx for your help regarding door fitting - coming along nicely. Got a problem with the door latch. as you can see in the attatched photo. With the inner handle in the fully closed position, the outer handle is cocked up at 40 degees to the horizontal ??? I'm assuming it should be horizontal - streamlined into the airflow. I followed the instructions to the letter & as you can only ever change the positions of the handles by 90 degrees, whats gone wrong ??? Any ideas please Paul Munford trigear kit 625.
