| Subject: | Re: Noisy Comm Radio |

I tried all the things suggested except the SWR check...no access to one yet. It
made no difference running the Ipad and Stratus on self batteries. I check the
integrity of all grounds and coax connections that were accessable. I did think
I momentarily showed a short center to shield when I had my meter on the
male pin in the back of the radio rack but could not repeat it. So now I have
the panel at home in my garage. I built in such a way to have it out of the plane
      in about 30 minutes.
I am planning to replace the RG58 with RG400 from the radio rack to the Bob Archer
antenna on the port bulkhead aft.
      So my questions now are:
      1. Should I put ferrite torroids on both my electric attitude ind. and turn coord.
power wires? What other consumers would need torroids on their power feed...engine
      monitor? AOA system? Transponder? other?
      2. Should I run a separate ground wire from the radio to the battery itself. Currently
it is on one of the Bob Nuckoll's 20 or 30 point grounding strips connected
to the negative battery cable inside the panel and would seem useless to
run another wire to the same place anyway but maybe it would help. I do have
one more spare pin on a connector to get thru the firewall of about a 20 gage
      wire size.
      3. The Sigtronics intercom wires weren't shielded. Do they need to be wrapped up
in some kind of shield foil or braid?
I just want to "carpet bomb" anything that could contibute to noise, static, cross
interference while I've got the panel out.
I am also trying to find a new 90 degree coax fitting that fits the ICOM rack.
I may be able to just reuse the one there now.
Thank you so much for your responses.
      Troy

      Hi Team

My aircraft needs a new rudder cable. I have all the
parts, but I don't have the swageing tool.

Is there some kind person out there who could lend me one
for a couple of weeks ?

Very happy to pay postage or collect - I am between
      Stansted and Luton.

      TIA

I have a spare one that I was recently given, so you are more than welcome to have
it for good. Let me know where to send it.

Dear All, Because of unanticipated domestic demands and in
the light of the already fairly full Europa Trips program,
I am thinking of dropping the Italian trip from this
year's program. If any of you were really looking forward
to it, do get in touch and I will consider rearranging it
      at a different time.

Jim, I for one would be reluctant. I have a number of
other roles/relationships which take me onto email at
least once a day, whereas I never go onto Facebook or
Twitter unless someone posts a link to something like a
video there. It is no doubt part of being a bit of an old
F**t but I guess that a high proportion of Europa builders
and flyers are post retirement age. Regards, David Joyce

Of the two, twitter has my vote, (I dislike facebook - much too
cumbersome). That said, old style email works great for me, as it's easy
to access anywhere, and it is archived for searching before broadcasting a
      question :)

      Cheers,

Simply contact Europa.... They were out of stock two months ago, but they should

I for one would not use a Facebook or Twitter list system. I do not like either
of them! I vote to keep the current system.

I am totally stumped by the throttle thingy...what i am thinking is
supposed to happen is that the throttle lever is supposed to move but at
least the metal washers are supposed to stay still.

try as I might i cant make the washers stop rotating and as a result it has
a tendency to undo the nut holding everything together.

      What did anyone else do?

Also in a twofer what about the holes in the firewall for the rudder
      cables? how are these sealed?

      thanks Will

PS this would not be possible on twitter i believe because it only permits
      120 characters I believe

      Good question, Will.

I too have contemplated what to do about the gaping holes for the rudder
cables. I have yet to come up with a solution, though perhaps a
modification that uses a short push rod in a bushing through the
firewall would mitigate the problem. Otherwise the firewall is the
equivalent of crossing your fingers and making a wish that you
won=99t have flames in the center tunnel.

      Has anyone addressed this?

      Best regards,

I am totally stumped by the throttle thingy...what i am thinking is
supposed to happen is that the throttle lever is supposed to move but at
least the metal washers are supposed to stay still.

try as I might i cant make the washers stop rotating and as a result it
has a tendency to undo the nut holding everything together.

      What did anyone else do?

Also in a twofer what about the holes in the firewall for the rudder
      cables? how are these sealed?

      thanks Will

PS this would not be possible on twitter i believe because it only
      permits 120 characters I believe

      	Hi William

I had the same problem, welded a nut to fender washer and JB Welded to
      housing.
