Graham,
It is disappointing you now appear to be wanting to force your ideas onto others
notwithstanding almost total rejection of your FB/Twitter suggestion on this
list. I have detected no response that I would consider to be "snobby". Perhaps
those responses you consider to be negative are interpreted that way by you
only because those persons didn't agree with you.
I take umbrage at your suggestion that general rejection of the idea may reflect
the average age of list users. Rather I would suggest that rejection is a result
of list users being more mature than the majority of scatterbrains using
such marvellous social media. I was 70 years young last month and quite capable
of making my own informed decisions thank you.
Consider the following:-
There are many lists on the Matronics website servicing probably thousands of users.
Are all those users wrong?
The List isn't broken so doesn't need fixing.
I have been on this list for about 12 years and have not found any shortcomings
....... It suits my needs admirably.
I have yet to see anything end up better as a result of being changed for the sake
of change.
Sorry if I'm snobby!

Posting pics on here is also a pain to resize them. When I was reading the
recent Europa mag as well I was thinking there has to be something more immediate,
dynamic and digestible. Don't get me wrong, I like both the mag and the
forum; but such a negative (and snobby) response, I find surprising, perhaps
we should explore and let the next generation into our club.

I'm 61 (can't trust it!) but engineer in new techs (IT & electronics).
Nevertheless I don't see (there is not?) any advantage to go FB and Twitter
more than spreading personal data where some can take advantage of it in
spite of me.
We can share here links to YouTube for videos, so may be the usage can be
improved to share pics easier, Matt?

Alan, please don't allow the answers to your post steer you away from the E
uropa world. I don't understand the almost vehement refusal to even discuss
your idea. There is absolutely NO thought of "replacing" our current Forum
, but merely adding to our world. No one is demanding that people change th
e way they share their Europa world, but simply add another means to draw t
hose that use these means of communication. Some people prefer FB/Twitter b
ecause that is "their" world.....others, myself included, have relied on ou
r current communication platform for so long that is feels good. But I woul
d not be against having a means of more easily sharing pix of other builder
s designs, paint schemes, fixes to problems, and especially requesting help
with a problem (a picture IS worth a thousand words). Also, unless you are
already in the Europa world, people would never search for the Europa webs
ite or Builders Forum. On FB/Twitter, our world could attract those that co
uld develop a passion for building or flying Europas. And people need not s
hare any more personal information than they feel comfortable with. Everyth
ing that goes on FB/Twitter gets gleaned by so many information gatherers i
t would make your head spin.

Why would we want that? Has flying an Europa became a religion and do
we need to spread the word and try to draw more soals into it?
I don't care whether our current fleet would be expanded or remains
stable. No need for growth here. In fact, I think that many of us
wanted to build an Europa to do something special, not because one
felt the urge to follow the herd.
And to me it looks like facebook and twitter are mainly herd things. I
always get the feeling that it is sort of a compensation for people
who are not able to live an interesting live themselves. Making a
picture of their dinner and letting the world know that they are going
to eat it. That kind of stuf.
Oh and BTW, all of us were apparently able to find this little
community without the "help" of facebook or twitter. We don't need it
for that. In fact, I would suggest that anyone who is unable to find
this without the help of facebook or twitter doesn't deserve it. ;-)

And that is a good reason against it. I want to share my information
with people I know, and not share it with thousands of friends of
friends of friends... If I wanted to broadcast everything to the
entire world I would easily find opportunities to do so, still without
the help of facebook or twitter.
