Im astonished by the comments that your posting has occasioned, but I alway try to understand that people have different world views, and I usually excuse our friends from other countries whose native language is not British English and thus may have misunderstood your phrase silly prices. I thought it was a perfectly reasonable qualifier - I wouldnt want to waste time looking at a Europa offered at (say) 50k either! I hope you find a machine to suit you and that you discover the friendly core of the Europa community, even if the exterior seems a bit abrasive to start with! in friendship Rowland | Rowland Carson ... that's Rowland with a 'w' ... | http://www.rowlandcarson.org.uk | Skype, Twitter: rowland_carson Facebook: Rowland Carson | pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/rowlandcarson ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 03:08:13 AM PST US From: pjeffers Subject: FW: Europa-List: In flight noticed the rear door pin out -horror -----Original Message----- From: pjeffers Sent: 29/09/2014 09:01 Subject: RE: Europa-List: In flight noticed the rear door pin out -horror Hi Graham, I do have a vac pump available. Then after a few minutes, to my horror, noticed the rear pin on the passenger door was located outside the plane rather than in the socket. Fir st time but a classic problem. Slowed right down to 70kts , thought about l anding then decided to get my wife to close it properly. I was very glad of the plastic hook at the rear and the leaver protector plate at the front. She held the front plate and moved the leaver up, I held the stick and rear hook and all went fine. Couldn't have done it without the plastic dressing gown hook stuck and scre wed in place at the rear. Moral of the story (apart from checking before departure) 1. lots of air co ming in means something open at the rear. 2, if you are building fit a mean s of pulling the door back in. BTW does anyone have a rotax vacuum pump sitting idle? -------- Graeme Bird G-UMPY Mono Classic/XS 912S/Woodcomp 3000/3W Newby: 105 hours 26 months on the Mono g(at)gdbmk.co.uk Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=431216#431216 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 04:52:56 AM PST US Subject: Europa-List: Re: XS Tri Gear Wanted From: "willydewey" Those are very kind comments Rowland.....thank you. The mod that Bud posted in his email is essentially what I developed and was subsequently picked up by Europa as Mod 66, although I did not find it necessary to reinforce the door with additional plies of glass. Thirtee n years or so later the doors still look as good as the day I fitted the m. The mod came to being because I noted that on Kim Prout's plane, as w ell as a couple of others, that the corner of the door had lifted and wa s proud of the fuselage which looked rather unsightly. This is due to t he geometry and pressure of the gas strut as we have all come to realize . However, I noted that by moving the mounting points around one could take advantage of the strength of the curvature of the door and minimize deformation. Simple, but effective. Of course since Mod 66 is in production, it will never be incorporated as a mod I suppose.
