Subject: | XS Tri gear wanted. |
Hi Guys,
Perhaps I should have expressed my earlier request in more modest tones and once
again apologies for any offence caused. In reality what I am looking for is
a custom kit built aircraft with a Constant Speed Prop, cockpit adjustable, coupled
to a 912uls Rotax. The aircraft should have finger brakes and an extended
baggage hold. Preferably the aircraft would have been hangared since first
flown. As I said before engine and airframe about 400 hours. Radio and transponder
are of little importance.
a number of owners have replied proposing fine aircraft but not quite what I am
after.
As regards pricing I can honestly reveal that the lowest I have seen is 28k for
a mono and 40k for a well kitted out , low hours XS trigear with a Rotax 914.
It seems that the aircraft I am looking for is somewhere between these extremes.
I have included these figures to give some idea what the market is at this
time and hopefully avoid derisory comments that were made last time
Good will to ALL flyers
Bill

Sadly, it appears that my previous belief that the sale of a kit plane
returns about 50 cents on every dollar spent w/ nary a nickel for a
builder=92s construction time was unduly optimistic=85strange in the
face of current selling prices for new LSA aircraft.

Hi Fred.
These are honest prices asked by the folk who offered me their Europas.
I had no influence in trying to reduce the asking price despite my reference to
Silly Prices in my earlier AD.
A few people in the Europa Club have confirmed that these prices are realistic
and most vendors use this as a starting point and eventually take a figure up
to 10% under this. If I buy I will be faced with the Same situation when I come
to sell it.
I suppose it's just like buying a new car in the U.K. You loose up to 30% as you
drive it out of the showroom.
Best wishes
Bill D

I am looking for some advice on whether I can put an access panel in the bottom
of the fuselage of my Tri Gear where the wheel is retracted on the monowheel.
I was planning to put my fuel panel (pumps and non directional valves) in there,
but access from above is too restricted for me to be able to get in to check
or repair. It seems to me that the bottom of the fuselage in this area should
not be a stressed panel. However before I cut a large hole in my fuselage,
I want to get confirmation that I am not going to weaken it! I am thinking
of a hole of about 12" by 9". Am I out of line? Grateful for any advice.

When I started building nev told me to cut out the entire monowheel hole
and cover it up with a piece of aluminum which I did. Made life a lot
easier. I can't imagine trying to do all the plumbing without the access.

Subject: | Re: Fuselage Access |
Jerry,
I converted my mono to a tri and made a removable panel to cover the mono hole
and provide access to the tunnel. No reason you cant do the same on a tri you
build. Probably easier because you will have the actual piece you removed from
which you can make a door/panel.
FWIW, I have also added a string of LED lights inside the tunnel for work illumination.
I highly recommend you consider the same.
