Subject: | Re: Avelac Fuel Gauge and Sender Unit |
Hi All.
Need some help.
I need an Avelec Sender unit, the one with the square black plastic top.
anybody got one,? I am having difficulty in getting in touch with Avelec.
Today I cut the wire on the sender unit, and the volt meter still falls to zero
when I pull the fuel circuit breaker.
I don't know what's wrong, but I am breaking a circuit, so to me it seems like
the volt meter comes off this CB, and when I pull it the volts go to Zero.
But this can't be right.

That sounds exactly what is happening. You need to trace the wiring for the v
oltmeter to find where it's connected.

the voltage sense is taken from the fuel flow circuit, which makes some sense as
it is then fused

Many thanks to you both.
I am not a builder, but using my logic it appeared to me that the volt meter was
in the same circuit as the fuel gauge, as when pulled the volts where zero,
did not know if this was right though.
Is it just making use of a CB which happens to be the Fuel.
If so one would think connect the volt meter via the least important CB on the
aeroplane, or is there more to it,??
Still that,s one problem sorted.
Any help with getting this Avelec sender, Avelec seem to be as as illusive as Arblast
Propeller company in France.

In discussing various coax choices and installing different radio sets, it
came to me to suggest to our lesser radio-concious fellows to make a
suggestion which I hope will avoid some bad results otherwise.
There are grounds (earths) and other grounds.... When an electronic device
is planned for installation, there may be two grounds involved - ne'er the
two should meet. there will be a DC ground whence cometh the juice to power
the beast. There is also a RADIO ground which is used to connect two parts
of the radio. Sometimes these two are confused, or even badly described in
the text. ALWAYS ensure you know exactly which is which; otherwise it's
likely that interference will show up later.
