The problem with the stall warner is that it makes a fairly modest squeak in your headrest. Modern headsets are designed to keep almost all of that noise out (aggravated by creeping deafness for some!).On top of that it sounds for much of the take off and landing runs , particularly in a mono, so that you become entirely accustomed to ignoring it. Most stall spin fatal accidents happen in spite of a conventional stall warner, but there have been none in planes equipped with a SmartASS and I know of a case where an experienced pilot has been 'saved' by his SmartASS after an EFATO - that is to say that his speed had decayed very dangerously before Helen (the lovely lady inside the SmartASS ) brought him to his senses. An equivalent and I suspect equally effective system is the relatively new Bendix King KR10, but that costs 10 x as much and seems unnecessary unless you are flying a certified airplane. Will happily send you more info if you are interested. - on reflection as this is a topic of some significance to Europas I will post the contents of the Article on Stall/Spin accidents and how to prevent them (previously published in the Europa Flyer) onin the Flying Section of the club website (www.theeuropaclub.org [10]) Regards, David Joyce, G-XSDJ On 2015-01-15 05:46, tonyvaccarella wrote: > > Thank you to those who replied. > > After some searching on the web I found the document that described the installation. > > Now its back to the workshop - damn hot in there - I might have to wait for some cooler months... > > Thanks > Tony > Sydney Australia > > -------- > Tony Vaccarella > Mascot NSW 2020 > Sydney Australia > > Read this topic online here: > > http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=437029#437029 [1] > Links: ------ [1] http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=437029#437029 [2] http://www.aeroelectric.com [3] http://www.buildersbooks.com [4] http://www.homebuilthelp.com [5] http://www.mypilotstore.com [6] http://www.mrrace.com [7] http://www.matronics.com/contribution [8] http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?Europa-List [9] http://forums.matronics.com [10] http://www.theeuropaclub.org ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 04:57:29 AM PST US Subject: Europa-List: Re: Stall Warning System installation From: "tonyvaccarella" Thank you David, The SmartASS 3 sounds very interesting - can you kindly send me a link where I can find some more information.
