Unless things have changed, which is entirely possible, I understood the requirement
to use a customs airfield only applies if you do not give 24 hours notice-
Sue and I have done it from Bicester without problems.

What I have done in the past is to fly out to the Channel Isles via France, typically
Le Havre or Cherbourg, which means you can claim your 20-30 fuel duty drawback
for the sake of a half hour stop and 10 landing fee (both leg flight plans
filed at the same time) and then return direct to Laddingford with all the
paperwork submitted 24+ hours before.
Don't forget to do everything through the Jersey Aero Club if you are going to
Jersey.
