    Subject: Mag drop
    From: William Daniell <wdaniell.longport@gmail.com>
Just to share: It was a single faulty sensor. My guy said there is a simple test he does (after a visual check of the plug leads) first. He swaps the 6 pin connectors which connect the sensors to the ignition units. If the side changes then its a sensor unit...if it doesnt its something else. Hi Fred, I also use Peter Timm's idea of using hooks into the wing recesses and strapped down to the trailer. Other ideas are :- * If I am moving the plane any distance, I remove the rudder. I find that even with a padded restraint, the rudder will want to zig and zag from side to side. * I use a ratchet strap to hold the mainwheel down into the scoop. (This idea from Bud Yerly.) Cheers, John ORIGINAL MESSAGE From: Fred Klein<fklein@orcasonline.com> Subject: Europa-List: mono fuselage stability on trailer Gents, Ive often had concerns about the stability of the mono wheel fuselage when it ridesalong the road on its bespoke trailer...(couldnt resist the opportunity touse this very British utterance). When my mind imagines the moment arms and the mass, stabilized solely by the capturingof the sides of the LG02 retraction arm within the sides of the tilt-upramp, I fear that the fuselage tipping over, contacting the wings or worse,is just a heartbeat away. I have similar concerns about the stability of the fuselage while on the trailerduring the attaching and removal of the wingsan operation Ive yet to attemptbutthe amount of the forces in play that Ive experienced when attaching the wingswhen the fuselage sits on a cradle in the shop gives me pause. Can I hear from those w/ actual experience as to whether or not my fears are unfounded?oris the fuselage stabilized by some additional means by which I am unaware? Fred

Subject: Takeoff technique and runway minima (trigear)
    From: "Rick Moss" <Rkwmoss@gmail.com>
It was recently suggested to me to try taking off with full flap; figuring that the mono guys do this all the time, I gave it a go (having previously always used around half flap). It seemed to lift the nose very much earlier and lift off of it's own volition quite readily, whereas with half flap a pretty firm aft input is required to rotate and lift off around 50kts. What do you chaps tend to do? XS Trigear 912S CS prop, normally flown from grass around MTOW. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=445452#445452

Made it to Hilversum Holland today from near Luton. It all went very well and the staff very helpful and friendly. Routed via Ostend and the coast on the way and straight over the 100 miles of sea on the way back (couldn't believe how many boats and platforms there were on the North sea. Belgians also very helpful and the range not active. Kept below 1200ft around Amsterdam TMA. Took the Brompton and used the cycle track through the scrub-land to the town for a bite to eat (4Km would make a pleasant walk). Used Skydemon for flight plans and GAR form and that all worked well too. various grass runways, Mogas and landing fee of 15E. -------- Graeme Bird G-UMPY Mono Classic/XS FFW 912S/Woodcomp 3000/3W Newby: 180 hours 4 years on the Mono g(at)gdbmk.co.uk Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=445462#445462
