Subject: | SB12 Exhaust Problem |
The Tri-Gear XS I have taken over has a 912ULS Engine that was purchased in 1999,
although I do not know if the Exhaust Silencer was purchased at the same time.
I am trying to determine if SB12 needs to be undertaken on this Silencer.
I have attached a picture of the Silencer, in the hope that someone can identify
it, and let me know if SB12 needs to be done. I have spoken to Europa, to enquire
about the perforated tube required (EX-SB12), but Karen does not know about
this, or where it can be sourced from. I have carried out the suggested verification,
and the interior of the silencer is smooth, suggesting the work needs
to be done. Any advice would be welcome.

Bob, Andy Draper at LAA HQ might help. Mine needed the mod, the manufacturer CKT
should be able to supply.

I just used a card gauge for the angle (which isn't that critical and would be
better if slightly less)
bolted them together using the rod end and washers and wired them to the pipe using
locking wire round the pipe and rod end.
If I did it ever again; I would move them 3mm toward Port as its a bit tight for
the nut against the tank recess for no good reason.
Didn't have any issue with getting the nut on - tie wrapped a spanner to a rod.
Flight testing my Tru trak Gemini now.

The silencer was manufactured by SKT. They were helpful in my queries on
the subject of SB12.
