Whilst replacing they'll lines on my Tri Gear and recalibrating the fuel gauge
I carefully measured the usable fuel using a (known accurate) measuring jug. I
was pleasantly surprised to find that it held 74.7 litres usable. This is considerably
more than placarded, and I was wondering if anyone else has found the
same?

Hi Rick,
I have been closely associated with 2 Europas that I have owned.
The first was a classic mono wheel which I built from a kit purchased from
the factory in 1993. This had a fuel capacity from unusable to full of 81
litres.
I now own a TriGear XS Europa built from a kit bought in around 2001 and it
has a fuel capacity of only 64 litres. Not far short of 20 less???
MAY BE SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT?
Pete

Interesting. My Europa is #100, I believe from 1999, so I guess I have the larger
tank and I'm entirely happy with that.
Has anyone rigged a secondary tank in the luggage bay to further extend range?
The payload is clearly there to take it if not too full of people and other luggage.

Thanks to Pete and all the others who confirmed my suspicions!

Subject: | strange part query |
Ive found a couple of parts in one of the firewall-forward boxes that I cant identify.
They are matt black round rods 25mm diameter and 150mm long, obviously sawn from
longer lengths. They might be some sort of hard plastic material. There are
tiny chips at the edges of the sawcut ends that look almost glassy, so clearly
its somewhat brittle material. Each one has a label affixed with the number 211363
(and a matching barcode). Nothing in my inventory matches the number or
the description.
Does anyone know what they are?
[Its possible that I picked them up at a model engineering show and thought they
might be useful for something (thats how I got the nylon handle for the throttle
lever, for instance) but I have no recollection of acquiring these particular
bits, or why they might have been tossed into the FWF section!]

Rowland, Rings no bells. Suspect they are interlopers. David Joyce,

Rowland,
I have too much time on my hands ....
Typing that number and 25mm into google gives:

Is that what it is?
