My COM antenna is located in the vertical slot between the vertical fin and the rudder. Might someone have any definitive information as to whether or not the silver mylaroften referred to as mirrored mylarhas any qualities which could generate interference with my radios? How much depends on the amount of coverage. It's possible that there's a non-conductive route to take. I wonder if there's any highly reflective silver vinyl that doesn't contain metal, but will look about the same? Vinyl is great (maybe you are using it already), and it can be easily put on and easily removed, just like your aircraft lettering. In fact, some people paint their plane just one color, and do all the accents with vinyl alone. Congrats on finishing the painting. That's one big job checked off the list.. Hope this helps, Greg Fuchs, A050 Newberg, OR -----Original Message----- From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Fred Klein Sent: Saturday, July 16, 2016 7:52 PM Subject: Europa-List: mylar decorative trim With painting complete, I'm considering various approaches to some trim striping, one of which would include reflective silver mylar tapes along the rudder. Just like there is metal in your airplane not far from the antenna, you could probably get away with small accent strips as well. Best if they are smaller and broken up, and not one long continuous piece. Besides, they could always be removed, right? :) G -----Original Message----- From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Fred Klein Sent: Sunday, July 17, 2016 12:23 PM Subject: Re: Europa-List: mylar decorative trim > > --> > > Hello Fred, > > If the mylar is conductive, then it likely will change the > transmission qualities of your antenna. His advice, help and hospitality was much appreciated, when I bought my Europa in the UK back in 2011. I'm looking forward to meeting him and Irene on one of the next Europa gatherings in the UK!
