Subject: | Re: Engine rubber mounts |
Hi Remi,
I agree with you - there is definitely a problem with some of the MT4s supplied
by Europa recently.
My mounts fitted in June 2015 have exactly the same problem as yours and I have
had to re-shim the mountings which, as you know, is a heck of a job. Although
I managed to restore the spinner to cowl alignment it's evident that the engine
is continuing to sag on its mounts and the MT4s will probably have to be replaced
in the not too distant future.
The comments on the forum about spacer lengths didn't apply to mine, I have the
correct spacer and bolt length - of course the bolts are fully tightened to compress
the end caps onto the spacers.
If other Europa owners are not experiencing this problem, there are a few possibilities:
1. They have MT4s from another batch
2. Maybe they haven't replaced theirs recently (which is tempting because it is
a heck of a chore every 5 years).
3. Maybe they've not noticed or have noticed but couldn't be bothered to do anything
about it. (Unlikely)
4. Only you and I have been unlucky to receive 2 separate rogue sets. (Unlikely).
5. They've removed the spacers or shortened them further (unlikely).
I wonder if anyone on the forum any knowledge of the supplier for these mounts?
In any case I have e-mailed Karen to let her know that I too have experienced exactly
the same problem as you. I have asked her if she could investigate if their
stock has the correct stiffness and I await her reply.
It's going to be important to resolve this because there's no point in ordering
new MT4s until we know they are OK and it could lead to the aircraft being grounded
in due course.
Best Regards
Roger Mills

Subject: | Replacement/Re-use of Mil Spec Multi Pin Connectors |
Hi All,
I am hoping someone is more familiar than me with NATO Spec connectors.
I am installing Mode S/8.33 and a few other bits on my panel. Through the fire
wall, for the signal / low power lines, I have 6026-18-32SN and 6026-18-32PN connectors.
The coupling works really well and I would like to keep it if possible.
I am struggling to find a spec sheet for them, as it appears that the spec has
been discontinued. I have found PT06A-18-32s but the pin layouts look different.
I have found some 6026-18-32 connectors, but they are prohibitively expensive
and all appear as recovered/reconditioned stock, without spec sheets.
Ideally I would like to re-use the connector and source new pins (both male and
female) for it so that I can crimp new pins on to the new low power/signal lines
and keep the connectors.
Does anyone have/know where I could get/simply could tell me the model of pins
that I would need to order?
Best,
Jon

Hi Jon,
Military grade hardware is prohibitively expensive - but you won't get
better. RS and Farnell used to supply these Amphenol connectors but I
suppose the demise of our defence industry means there is no longer a
market for them?
You can download a datasheet from these people but you'll need to register.
http://www.acalbfi.com/uk/Connectors-and-Cables/Circular/Connector/p/Circular-connector--602GB--MIL-DTL-26482---size-18--sockets--32-contacts--Olive-Drab-Cadmium/0000008D1M
Unless you already have the dedicated Amphenol crimping tool (also
prohibitively expensive) it might pay to get the solder-bucket pins
(these people supply them) - all you need is a good quality temperature
controlled soldering iron, a steady hand and younger eyes than I have.
Hope that helps.
