Hi Raimo, many thanks, fascinating stories and great videos. We have about 30
homebullts in Kenya/ Uganda, mine is the only Europa, so I'm on my own for any
mods... Here's an AN-2 I found at an airfield in northern Uganda, engaged in
some dodgy business taking supplies for the Uganda Army into neighboring Congo.
That's me on the left.... Soon after it crashed, leaving only a pile of smoking
bananas. Due to the slow crash speed, everyone walked (or ran) away unharmed.
Yes, lots of stories to tell, and no time. I think all Europe builders,
operators will have very interesting things to tell.
Russia because of family and kids... Maybe one day we will drive up to the lakes
in Karelia, and keep going, pay you a visit. I haven't tried the flying here.
All best, Richard

Things never happen fast enough, at least not good things!
After a long hiatus and with no other solutions being proposed I am looking to

Previously about 10 people are interested, so please PM me if you are interested?

Hi John
Yes please. Just confirm we are talking about the replacement for the
rubber snake from the top centre of the fuselage.
Regards
Pete Lawless

Subject: | Rotax SI 03-1998 |
Hi Everyone,
I=99m slightly confused by Rotax SI 03-1998 which is all about
cold weather starting & would be grateful to hear from anyone who has
better understanding.

Para 2.3 says that the choke design was modified around SN 4406138 for
the 912UL and that the old choke can be modified.
This makes me inclined to think about modifying my choke.
However, Para 3.2 says that the mods are appropriate if you permanently
operate in low temps - i.e. not applicable to most.
To mod or not to mod, that is the question.
Regards to all,
Roger

Roger,
The key paramater here is your engine starting behavior in cold weather.
Have you been experiencing repeated cold weather starting difficulties
even with a fully charged battery ?
If so, by all means go for the SB.
If not, why bother ?
BTW, our 914 engine has always been a great cold starter, from - 10C up
to 38C OAT.
